I don't get what you mean Blaxx. I meant that LB lasted over a year with mixed to negative reviews and average box office (which is precisely the situation Shrek is in right now). Yeah it still closed as a flop, but it stayed around a lot longer than expected.
Other than that, did you enjoy the play Mrs Lincoln?

So I've never understood this, why didn't Legally Blonde do better at the box office?

re: Shrek in trouble?

I am quite sure it will be heavily discounted during Jan/Feb & March

When it comes on TDF, we will see it. If it folds though, it will make raising money for other shows that uch harder.

People with kids also have to contend with buying all the dolls & trinkets etc . If you have a few kids, you will need a second job. This is something the suits on Broadway need to address - the cost of tickets especially now.

Oh, I don't think the length of the run is an indication of anything but a producer's poor planning. LB stayed around a lot longer, but in the end, it lost the investment.

Shrek could certainly run for a couple of years, just out of producers' pride.

re: Shrek in trouble?

not sure but i hope it does well. i agree with one thing lower the ticket prices and maybe do something like pay for one adult and one kid goes free. i feel it will def make money over the holiday break. one last thing do not compare it to jersey boys, wicked, and billy elliot grosses/capacity.

re: Shrek in trouble?

The sad thing is that I think Dreamworks (and a lot of other people) are scratching their heads trying to figure out why the show isn't doing Wicked/Jersey Boys type numbers.

Well from the sound of it, the future's looking mighty bleak for the musical adaptation of the greatest fairy tale never told.

re: Shrek in trouble?

Shrek is running discount codes till May next year, the email I got had $60.00 Adult tickets for all performances, $40.00 for children. This was for all Holidays and Weekend shows, so they must have opened with very little advance bookings.

re: Shrek in trouble?

Shrek has such a talented cast. I hope the show does well because they deserve a good job on Broadway.

Jennifer Cody, Jennifer Simard, Aymee Garcia, Ryan Duncan, John Tags. What a cast!

Best wishes to SHREK!
