Shuffle Along dark for one week?

So, I just picked up my ticket for Shuffle Along on Monday, April 4th. Got a great seat - Orchestra Second Row Aisle on the Right. I didn't even have to pay premium for it.

But what I saw what was weird is that there were no performances at all listed for the week before (Sunday, March 27 to Saturday April 2). I called Telecharge about it, as that was the week I was originally planning to see it. The operator said the show was on hiatus that week, but did not know why.

I just think it's weird the show would be dark for a whole week so soon after opening.

But, I'm just glad I got a ticket.

Perhaps an organization has rented the theater out for something like television up fronts? I know Kinky Boots and On The Town went dark for a week with those, but I don't recall what time of the year it was...

It's still in previews then right? Would a show ever bake in time like that before opening to make changes? Or is this more likely a scheduling thing?

it is a weird period for them to be doing this. They'll have 2 weeks of previews, then shut down for a week, and then restart?? Something's very weird with this.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I found it very strange myself, especially with previews having just started. I couldn't think of any possible reason.

I'm just glad my schedule was flexible and I was able to go the following week, because I would hate to miss this show, and have it be dark the whole week I was there.

Keiichi2 mentioned that it may be rented out for the same reason that some of the other theaters have been rented out recently, but that reason is network upfront, where they announce their next season's TV schedule, but that happens in May. I agree that this and Audra's summer out of the show are unusual.

I was told by a friend that someone in the show (I am guessing Audra?) has a prior commitment that week. He didn't know who it was or what type of commitment.
