Shuffle along...2016 cast album?

I am going to give this another try! Has anybody heard any facts, innuendos and/or rumors about this cast making an original cast album? Previously when I did this post somebody suggested that Nonesuch Records was going to do a recording but I recieved a note from them this past week that said such a recording session was NOT on their schedule. If anybody knows anything let me know!

It was confirmed in an earlier thread on this topic that a cast recording will NOT be made, unfortunately.

Does anyone know the rough cost of a Broadway cast album the size of Shuffle Along 2016? Is it $200k, 300k...?

Costs are FAR greater than you're assuming.

THE FACTS:

There's a rule that states, a cast album must be recorded within 19 weeks of a shows closing. If the album is recorded  before that 20th week, producers must pay the actors a minimum of 1 weeks salary. IF the producers wait until the 20th week, they ONLY have to pay the actors the SAG/AFTRA scale, which is significantly lower.

So, if a producer needs to save money.......you get the picture. If you hear about a cast album coming in January of 2017, you'll know why. 

A producer can also ask the cast to record inside of the 19 weeks and take the pay cut (meaning only the Sag/Aftra scale pay), but the cast must vote  yes, unanimously.

agreed. if Bryan has accepted this fact we all must accept if, for he does not take the subject of cast recordings lightly (especially when shows close and don't announce whether or not they will record one, he hates that almost as much as I do)

The only business reason to record the show after it has closed, is if the producers think it will help inspire future regional and amateur productions. But obviously this is a show that would be very hard to produce in those markets.

I no longer buy cast albums and was really torn re not buying this one. Now that decision has been taken from me and I am glad. By the way Bryan, sorry you will not get a cast album on this. Keep up the good fight and I wish you luck in the future. I meant no disrespect to you with my remarks above
