Save the time and effort...I've seen this show on Broadway...it's not good to say the least.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

I may get roasted for saying this since folks here seem to love this show, but I hated it. It did seem to have a love-it-or-hate-it feel in the audience. We (and others) applauded politely at the end of the show, while some folks leaped out their seats with tears streaming down their cheeks.

Well I will be at one of the performances regardless! I love Side Show and so I will be getting tix to this production. Especially since it is so close to home!
...What happened next, was stranger still, a woman breathless and afraid, appeared out of the night, completely dressed in white. She had a secret she would tell, of one who had mistreated her. Her face and frightened gaze, my mind cannot erase...But then she ran from view. She looked so much like you...

Oh yes, oh yes....if you'd have seen his Merrily We Roll Along out here.....you could believe it.......save the time......

Are you talking about that God-awful production of Merrily a little while ago that charged $50 per ticket and was supposed to be getting in trouble for it, since it was - I believe - a non-Equity and just really TERRIBLE production? I think it was at that really small space on 45th where they usually host the "At This Performance..." concerts?

If so, I just might have to see this.
If it's going to be anything like that Merrily it should be quite the sh*tshow.

The show may not have the most clever lyrics, but it does tackle some big issues with some serious effect. I agree that the lyrics are more off than they are on, but the themes explored outweigh all that.

I'll be seeing this show. Mekenian is a very young director, and should be supported by his community -- not ridiculed by his peers.

No it was a MWRA in Los Angeles, that was close to painful...very close.

And no one is ridiculing young Mekenian...but expressing a personal opinion, with enough proof to back up and support.....

is there any nudity involved?

Well, I hear there is a lot of girl-on-girl action. re: Side Show Returns to NY in New Off-Bway Production

re: Side Show Returns to NY in New Off-Bway Production

Just wanted to bump the thread and see who's coming! We had an all-day rehearsal/runthrough yesterday (first time the full orchestra and cast were together), and I think you guys are REALLY going to enjoy the production.

The cast is quite good, particularly our Jake...during "You Should Be Loved", I could barely play, I was crying so much. He also tears the ROOF off the place during "The Devil You Know".

Hope to see some of you there!
Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you. Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

Thanks for the insider report, Jailyard. I'm glad to hear the cast is good. You never know what to expect when seeing a one weekend run show.

Take a turd, spray it with Chanel Number 5, enclose it in a velvet-lined box, wrap it up in exquisite Florentine paper, tie it up with gold leaf-embossed ribbon, and place it on a throne, and you know what?

It's still a turd.

I'm so excited this score is so much fun, I'll be there the 31st.
So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.~Office Space

Besides some obvious inconsistent lyric writing (some of the lyrics are beautiful and others are really forced into rhymes), this score and show are beautiful.

And, from what I've heard, this young cast is really knock your socks off. I'm excited about this.
