The Libretto has Raoul saying "Christine, angel!" He's calling out to her as the door unlocks and he bursts in to find the room empty. It's never been the Phantom saying it. He's not even visible at that moment and is in fact busy getting into the boat. The Phantom doesn't even have another spoken or sung line until "I have brought you..." as the entire title song is pre-recorded.

on the Little Mermaid cast recording during She's In Love...
"IIIIIIIII'LLLLLLL SAYYYYYY, Swimmin in circles, chasinG her TAYYYULLL"
There's the overacted high school line delivery to open, the Sarah Palin g dropping, and the throwback to Oklahoma! all in one line...
CATS-- Dude, thank you so much! All these years, I always thought it was the Phantom's voice-over saying "ANGEL!" Well, I feel dumb, but I'm glad I now know better.
Parislover-- Hahaha, yes! I know! My sister and I also love the way Eric says, "Not while I'm Captain!" because it sounds so tremulous and wimpy. (He sounded a lot better in real life than on the recording.) We use that line for everything.
Everything Patinkin says on The Secret Garden cd. My God! That ridiculous "garDEN".
The Southern accents on Whistle Down the Wind are ridiculous! The line "You gonna shoot him then?" or something like that is almost painful to listen to!

Oh my God, Jason, you are so right!!!! Those line readings on Whistle make me want to vomit. And I love that score.

Bump!
Half of everything on "Legally Blonde!" The main line that comes to mind is, "Byyyyye, Warner!"

Adam Pascal in RENT always sounds cartoonish when he has book lines to speak. Examples:
Where's everyone else?
PLAYING SPIDERMAN!
It always makes me feel awkward.

What about when Mark says, "I think we've met!"
He just sounds so angry when he says it.

Rufus Bonds Jr. has some absolute classics in the Parade OBCR. My favorite is: "You know what makes you, Jim?" "LUCKAY?"
I find Len Cariou's delivery of "At last my right arm is complete again!" a little... lackluster.

I love that one!
"Then she musta come back to life. Cuz she was dead as last Christmas Eeeeeeeve when Mr. Frank showed me the body!"
While on the subject of Parade...I would add pretty much the entire "The Picture Show" sequence between Frankie Epps and Mary Phagan to this list.

Yeah the lines on the SA recording are strange. And I agree, Len Cariou's "...my arm is complete again" is kind of blah.

OMG, I love "The Picture Show" line: "She will with Essie and Betty Jean, jes' not with you!"

Totally agree with the OBCR of Spring Awakening dialogue. One that espeically bothers me is in Don't Do Sadness/Blue Wind. John Gallagher says 'Ilse? You frightned me." Posing it almost as a question, not an exclamation.
Also, on the Wicked OBCR in What is this Feeling, I HATE how Idina says "Blonde."

This first thing that came to my mind was the Don't Do Sadness/Blue Wind scene. Specifically "I'm on the way home, want to come?" Which doesn't even exist in the show, so I don't know why we were "treated" to this awkward line read. Although the "Ilse? You frightened me" line makes sense if you take it in two separate parts. He's first asking if it's her (thus the question) and then expressing that she frightened him. But the rest of that scene is horribly stilted, especially on Lauren Pritchard's part.

add me to the list of people who think Terrence Mann has weird line delivery in BATB... i will also add the IF I CAN'T LOVE HER REPRISE where he sings/talks "let the world be done with me".. i can't stand his "me"... ugh.. sounds like he's trying too hard to act...

RE: "Ilse? You frightened me."
Ah it makes sense when you put it like that. In the performance I saw, Moritz delivered "Ilse" as legitimately frightened.
>I find Len Cariou's delivery of "At last my right arm is complete again!" a little... lackluster.<
It's subtlety itself next to George Hearn's "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT LAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSST, MY AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARM IS COMPLEEEEEEEEEETE AGAAAAAAAAIINNNNNNNNN!"

Smaxie, I can practically feel the globs of spit hitting me.
I much prefer Cerveris' delivery to Hearn's or Cariou's.

Yeah, I vastly prefer Cariou's delivery to Hearn's. I just love how in most of Act I you get these great build-ups for Sweeney -- such as the music leading up to the line in question -- only to have Cariou deliver the text with great subtlety. Not only does it make the explosion of "Epiphany" all the more powerful, but it plays up on the line "his voice was soft, his manner mild," which, incidentally, is spoken by the Beadle right after the "at last ... !"
