NYC trip:
Spring Awakening - Monday
110 in the Shade - Tuesday
Mary Poppins - Wednesday Mat.
A Chorus Line - Wednesday
Curtains - Thursday
Gypsy - Saturday Mat.
Grey Gardens - Saturday
Deuce - Sunday Mat.
Legally Blonde - Sunday
So, I had Company slotted for Friday night.
Frost/Nixon??
Kind of don't want to spend a Friday night at a play, even though he won for best actor. I like to see plays in the afternoon and the musicals in the evening. If it's worth it, though, I'll break my rule. I'm just not much into politics.
The Year of Magical Thinking??
Same problem as above.
Xanadu??
Well, at least it's a musical and sounds like it would be a fun night. That's all I have to say for it, though.
OR I go see something that I've seen already
OR something Off-Broadway like 'The Roast of Utopia', which sounds hilarious. I think I'm leaning towards this one.
What'd be your choice??

Either Xanadu or Frost/Nixon.

I'm not into politics at all, but I loved 'Frost/Nixon'. Give it a bash, and if you hate it, I'll happily take the blame. But you really really REALLY should see it. :3

Well, that's three right away for Frost/Nixon over Forbidden Broadway.
I'd love to see LoveMusik, but it'll be closed. I suppose there is only one play on the list, so going to another one would be a good idea.
Really??? Frost/Nixon huh??

Posted: 6/13/07 at 6:51pmI say Frost/Nixon as well. It's something I don't want to miss (which is why I am frantically trying to find time to get to the city by closing) as it looks wonderful.

It sounds like people are really recommending Frost/Nixon.
I'd go with Forbidden Bway.

Posted: 6/13/07 at 7:10pmYah, you might be convincing me. It does sound like an amazing performance. I just have to be in the right mind frame for it.

Cages or wings? Which do you prefer? Ask the birds. Fear or love, baby? Don't say the answer Actions speak louder than words. (Tick, Tick... BOOM!)

Posted: 6/13/07 at 7:36pmSpend your Friday at a play. Langella was incredible, as was Sheen, but Langella moreso.

I'm assuming your trip is after July 1st? You didn't post any dates, just days. Company doesn't close till July 1st.
I'd go with Forbidden Broadway.

So seven to three for Frost/Nixon.
Anyone else care to chime in??

Posted: 6/13/07 at 10:30pmI adore The Year of Magical Thinking. Spectacular.
LIVE THAT LESSON!!!!!!

Posted: 6/14/07 at 7:13amI thought Frost/Nixon would be a snoozefest, but my boyfriend's into politics so I took him. Absolutely gripping. Especially fron the rush seats. Nice, low, not too wide stage, amazing view and such intensity! (and speaking of "Frost": fair warning, they keep that theatre at like -10 degrees!)
#16re: Since Company is closing, what should I see instead??
Posted: 6/14/07 at 7:28amI'd see Xanadu.

Posted: 6/14/07 at 10:00amDefinitely Frost/Nixon. If you like politics, it's great. But even if you don't like politics, when it comes down to it, it's really about the people. (how corny did that sound -- but it's true). Plus, it's a limited run, Sheen and Langella are not to be missed, and then you'll have the fun of snobbishly getting to compare the film to the play. It's really a no-lose situation

Posted: 6/14/07 at 10:08amIf you've never seen it, Forbidden Broadway is a MUST! If you have seen it before, I'd say go with Xanadu. There's something thrilling about seeing something so new that not a lot of other people have gotten to see it yet. If it's a hit you can say, "I saw it back then...." or if it's a flop you can say, "I saw it!" (Think of all the people lucky enough to see CARRIE).

Well, yes, the snobbish-ness of it all is a factor.
It sounds like Frost/Nixon is the answer, though. For some reason I just don't have any desire to see Xanadu. I recently saw All Shook Up here in Orange County and that's about as campy as I need to go. I have seen Forbidden Broadway in the past, but it was over 10 years ago.
Thanks everyone for your help. I know I can count on this message board when in need of opinions.

Posted: 6/14/07 at 12:51pmFor the love of god, do not see Xanadu. It is abysmal. Go with Frost/Nixon. Frank Langella's performance is excellent and the play is really good (especially the last half hour or so).
#21re: Since Company is closing, what should I see instead??
Posted: 6/14/07 at 2:13pmI think you should see something fun like Xanadu.
#22re: Since Company is closing, what should I see instead??
