Per Hollywood Reporter:
A stage adaptation of the comedy-drama with music, about a 16-year-old Dublin lad who attempts to escape his troubled home life and impress a coolly enigmatic local beauty by starting a band influenced by the new wave pop sounds of the 1980s, will premiere as part of New York Theatre Workshop's 2019-20 season.
That off-Broadway venue is the same place where Once had its New York debut in 2011, in a sold-out run that propelled it to Broadway.
Like Once, the Sing Street musical will feature a book by Tony-winning playwright Enda Walsh, while music and lyrics are by Carney and Gary Clark. The latter is the one-time frontman of late-'80s Scottish band Danny Wilson, which had an international hit with "Mary's Prayer." The same team wrote the original songs heard in the movie.
Dates TBA
I love this movie so much! This is exciting!

Yay, this is exciting! Awesome movie. So upset it's not on Netflix anymore--I was actually just searching for it this weekend to watch it because I hadn't seen it in a while.

Love the movie, but put me in the skeptical category. Once turned out ok, but not sure about this one.

Is John Tiffany working on this? I'd love to get the rest of the Once crew on this project

I wish they gave the dates for this already, even the months it would be running would be nice. I'm assuming either late Oct-early Nov opening, as the show before at NYTW ends early Oct.

I love to see new musicals Off Broadway, but I'm hesitating on this one. I wasn't such a fan of the stage version of Once and thought the movie was much better. I'm expecting prices for this to be pretty high, above $100. Does anyone here know?

Are tickets all the same price? What was the cheapest ticket, if you remember?

Prices range from $69-129, depending on the date. Most dates are $104.

Do NYTW shows ever extend their runs? I'd like to see this but won't be in the city until April.

They do, but that would be a very long extension since they have other shows scheduled for the season. That said, I’m pretty sure Constitution extended into a different theater downtown after extending as much as it could at NYTW, so I suppose that’s a possibility.

I got my tickets earlier this week! Love the movie and I'm very excited to see how they'll adapt certain aspects of it. If this production can capture the spirit of the film without getting too bloated then I think it'll be a big hit.

Per the email I received today, cheaptix go on sale tomorrow (Oct 4). The specific time is not listed as to when they go on sale though.
”We're committed to making tickets available to every production via our CHEAPTIX initiative. All tickets for the first two CHEAPTIX performance on November 25th and 26th will be sold to the general public for $25. In addition, we'll also offer a limited number of $25 tickets to all other performances via a CHEAPTIX Digital Lottery in partnership with TodayTix.
After the first two $25 CHEAPTIX performances, single tickets for SING STREET start at $65–$125and vary by performance date and time. All non-lottery tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, online at NYTW.org or by phone from the NYTW Box Office at 212-460-5475. Standard ticketing fees apply. A photo ID is required for pickup.”
