re: Sister Act London: Music Video!

Patina Miller looks absolutely fabulous, as does the rest of the cast.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

She really does. I was disappointed they hadn't gotten a major name to headline the show, and then I saw Patina Miller in the video and I'm sold. She sounds great, is full of energy and charisma, and doesn't seem to be imitating Goldberg at all...and it works! Good for her. Now I'm really looking forward to seeing her when the show makes the transfer.

What's incredible about Miller is her star quality.

As great as her voice is, you just don't see presence like she has much anymore.

I hope this role makes her the star she deserves to be.

I'm totally intrigued and was dancing in my seat.

Patina looks & sounds great and acts the song perfectly.

I didn't think they'd be able to live up to 'Hail Holy Queen' from the movie, but I think this number (though not in the same scene) comes close to it - I love it!

At this point, I am not crazy about either song. I feel I may like them better after seering the show. Based on these 2 songs, I won't think about buying the recording until after seeing the show.

I think what surprised me the most is how much I liked the number but how little I liked the actual song. It's just that Patina makes it soar way above the material. I do think the song pales in comparison to Marc Shaiman's arrangements in the film.
Somethingwicked, I couldn't agree with you more, Patina simply has "It" whatever that is. She's a star in the making.

re: Sister Act London: Music Video!

As it started out I was like "Oh great! Another The Wedding Singer, Shrek, Legally Blonde" (etc musicals on movies) I loved Sister Act and was a little scared when they were adapting it into musical form. When the the song started it was just "eh" Miller is amazingly good, but what hit the spot was when the congregation of nuns started singing I was impressed. Sister Mary Roberts was always my favorite part (IDK why) and am happy to see her still having the belting voice. lol I'm a loser.

I don't have youtube @ work anymore re: Sister Act London: Music Video! So I can't see the youtube link but I did watch the "Raise Your Voice" song from the sister act website and loved it!!!!

re: Sister Act London: Music Video!

yeah, the beginning of the song did nothing for me. then the nuns started singing and it wasn't that bad. THen I tried to add it to favorites but had to log in. While I was doing that, I got Freak Flag from Shrek stuck in my head. When I went back to watching the video, i heard "raise your freak flag" (I did not hear that line before logging in.)

I don't know. I hope the other songs have a bit more umph to them.

Patina did sound good though. and I loved the nun at the piano!

No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.
