Anyone have any details on when if ever will this show be on B-way?
They are still working on the show. I know it is like in Florida or Atlanta or some place like that, or it just finished that run after it play CA.
It has not vanished, just still being worked on!
I remember a few weeks ago I saw the logo for it. They use a mic on a wire for the 'I' in 'Sister' like the Wedding Singer did for 'Singer'.
Did you mean this logo:

Thanks for narrowing that down for us.
LOL....that last city it played was Atlanta, and that was in Feb of 2007. So, yeah, been a while!
If it hits Broadway in the current state it's in now, It will flop even worse than Hi-Fi. It needs tons of work.
Looks good. I like the art work.
It was in Pasadena and then after some changes (a few song changes/cuts I think) was in Atlanta earlier this year (March/April/ '07 I think).
They are [hopefully] looking for a new actress for Deloris van Cartier.
Why do you say "hopefully"?
With the exception of a few songs, the score, in my opinion, is great. I love "Raise Your Voice" and "Take Me to Heaven". While Dawnn Lewis is talented and sounded good in this, I do think it wouldn't be as successful without some sort of "name" in the lead role. I hope this show eventually is a success!
What happened was it misfired on many levels, sadly It strayed too far from the movie in some aspects, the music, while fun, didn't serve the show well. Hopefully it will get back on track.

I would only go to this if it featured the movie cast and the songs from the movie.
^ Having the film cast is not realistic at all, considering Wendy Makkena (the belty role in the show)didn't do any of her own singing in the film. I thought all of the actresses in the production's try-outs were fine in their roles.
The score with a couple of exceptions is very good. The book could use some work and Dawnn Lewis was good as Deloris but not great. In that pivotal role, you need someone bigger than life- a top-notch comedienne who can sing up a storm- a Loretta Devine type (since I don't think Loretta will want to do a Broadway show 8 times a week anymore).
The show also needs new sets (the Atlanta & LA sets were ridiculously cheap) and some sassy choroegraphy that would give it a boost.

Personally, and I think some of the critics felt the same way, the show needs to get back more in touch with the movie. Delores was not overly warm in the show, and I personally did not like Dawnn Lewis. My other issue was the lack of the film's songs. It was fine that they added new songs, but I really wanted the ones they sang in the church back.
I think the biggest misconception with the Pasadena and Atlanta productions was that the producers were looking to transfer the show commercially in the state it was performed regionally, which was certainly not the case (everything would be on a much bigger scale for a Broadway production).
I saw the show toward the end of the Atlanta run and enjoyed it immensely. The score was extremely enjoyable, and I thought (most importantly) that the creative team managed to retain the uplifting spirit that made the film so great while adding new dimensions that were equally as fun.
While Dawnn Lewis did an absolutely terrific job in the arduous task of filling Whoopi Goldberg's shoes as Deloris, the show really is a vehicle that, to be sucessful, requires a star. Queen Latifah came to my mind as the best fit for the role (the show really plays to all her strengths, with the vocal score being right in her range and the comedy in the style of what she does best).
From what I understand, everyone involved was extremely happy with how far they were able to come with the show and hoped to do one more round of out of town engagements (the cities I heard mentioned were Chicago and Detroit) before ultimately making the final tweaks to move it to New York.

I was told by a cast member that the west end should begin soon, with a new cast.

I loved the Los Angeles production. "Raise Your Voice" is one of my favorite musical theatre numbers, and holds up well against other numbers on Broadway. However, yes, the show needs to be heavily updated and upgraded if it were to come to the Great White Way anytime soon.

I can confirm it. I'm an intern on the show in London right now. I'm starting up with it next week. So I know that it's going to be worked on in London but that's all I know. I'll post something when I know more about the show (granted its not top secret or anything.)
I, personally, can't get enough of Sister Act 2. Let's see THAT on stage!
