Hollywood just has no idea how to make a good movie anymore. Not just this, but also Warner's has had a few flops like Mikey17. My younger co-workers who are the right demographic for that watched the trailer and were like "hard pass" the weekend it came out. Even though Pattison is the new Batman, they were all "meh."
There's simply more interesting things to stay home & watch on streaming.

To be fair, I don’t think we should be lumping Mickey 17 and Snow White into the same category. Mickey 17 will probably be one of the weirder mainstream movies released this year, directed by a really exciting filmmaker, and even if it under performed, we should be thankful it got such a large release. We need more of that, not less. Snow White on the other hand…
I wonder, too, if Hollywood has trained audiences to stay at home unless the film is a real event. Why bother seeing something in the theater when you can just watch it at home in about 3 weeks? I also wonder if the concept of “going to the movies” just isn’t engrained in Gen-Z and younger the way it was for millennials and older as a social touchpoint. The impact of streaming on movie theaters and box office really can’t be overstated, I don’t think.
I’d guess Snow White might have some success on Disney+ where people who already subscribe can check it out out of curiosity without paying any extra.

massive drop at box office on second weekend. fear it is over.
Had a coupon for a free movie that expired yesterday and I chose this over Death of A Unicorn, as this was playing at 12:30 and would let out early enough to hit the busy time at the baths Sunday afternoon.
Ooof, it's like every new song was written by people who hate musical theatre. Gal Gadot's big number was 100% camp... talk about "For the Gaze!" The changed ending without the climactic death of the Queen from the animated film fell flat, even though it matched the tone of this new film. It's almost all flat. The only time I felt the thrill of the original was early when the recreate Snow White's running through the creepy forest to escape the Huntsman.
What I left the theatre thinking about was the film Frozen, and how great the songs in it are.
The afternoon I attended a performance of The Elephant Men.
I really enjoyed this film. Genuinely thought this was one of the better, if not the best, live action remakes Disney has done.
