Why Black? I'd say wear something that fits your figure and says something about your personality. Unless you have too much to hide I'd say live it up! Does Cher ever worry if she is not a nominee? As long as you can walk in it and it doesn't make you look bad, dress well. Check out a few fashion magazines like Vogue and Glamour for a few ideas but remember too, they get a little silly sometimes.
I guess I would be heading for Macy's and checking out what's popular, too?

"show us a picture when you get your dress. "
I don't think she wants us to know her identity. Lol.

That's cool! Are they anything like The Oscars, which are almost an oven due to the hot lights illuminating the first ten rows of stars for the cameras?
If they are similar, I would suggest the lobby or the lobby bathrooms which, at the Oscars, become the place where the stars slip out during the show. Do they have seat warmers at the Tonys? At the Oscars, they have a whole bunch of spare people who race down and fill every seat.

Only celebs, nominees and people in the nominated shows sit in the front orchestra seats at the Tony's. The 'general public' seats (that went on sale via TicketMaster) are in the upper mezzanine and 13 miles from the stage.
Yes... the Tony's (as do ALL award shows that are telecast on TV) also have seat-fillers for those sitting in the front orchestra seats who want to take a breather, etc.

BrodyFosse123, thanks for the info. I have attended the Oscars twice as the date of a woman executive from one of the studios. I was SO hot and The Governor's Ball was boring. The lobby and bathrooms were very "smoke-friendly (but that was in the 1990s, who knows what it is like now) and an amazing place to slip out and mingle with the stars. I've always wanted to go to the Tonys (Tony, Tony, Tony...) and my friends have suggested that's the reason why I'm starting to dabble in the theater again (They may say that, I, of course cannot possibly comment....)
I hope everyone has a great time. Wish I was there...

Ah, me too! I enjoy your stories, everyone. I just believe the whole process of creating something and getting a little recognition for it is fun.
I can imagine the Governor's Ball as being extremely boring. When I'm out at night, I prefer music that's jumping!
I just hope you have a great time. Life is short. We have to live it up, while we can.

I agree.
I'm especially excited because one of my good friends is up for a Tony - I would love to see them win!
By the way - just got my dress! Now accesseries!

Posted: 5/24/08 at 4:56pmI sat in the 1st mezz. My ticket was a birthday gift but I know it cost 200 dollars. Had a blast and walking out with the "stars" was a lot of fun. I have posted before that we walked out surrounded by Hal Holbrook (right next to me), Frank Langella, Brian F O'Byrne, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burkta. A very memorable evening. And don't lose your program/Playbill. You have to present your ticket at a booth to get one and I didn't see any left behind when we were leaving. I looked!

I have gone to the Oscars and you want to be comfortable in your dress. Find something pretty, but something you know you will feel good in 8 hours later. It is a long day with red carpet, the show, and then parties after. I am assuming the Tonys are similar.....long, but fun day.
And to Allofmylife,.........Sadly, the Oscars are so security heavy now that they are at the Kodak, you can only use the restrooms and bars on the floor you have tickets.....and you can only smoke outside on the 4th floor.

krispy kreme, that's so sad. In the 89s and early 90s when I went, they were still very much an industry party. Now, with the enormous press and the terrorist threats, they are something totally different. I remember someone actually crashed the Governor's Ball one year I went.
Now, they'd probably shoot him on sight.
When I first moved to Los Angeles (and I was "in the industry" from the very first day, I used to use the Universal copier. On the Universal lot, there was a huge photocopier that every screenwriter I knew made use of. The room was totally undguarded and people would slip in and run off a half-dozen copies of their script. Back then, you could just walk on the lot if you looked like you knew where you were going.
I was at Universal last week and I practically had to give a blood sample to get on the lot.
The night of the back lot fire, I was copying scripts and I walked out of the building and was looking at the wonderful rosy glow of the sunset. "Nice sunset" I said to a guy trotting by. "That's no sunset!" he screamed "The lot's on fire!" The whole town square from Back to the Future burned down that night, talking about 20 vintage cars with it (from a 1920s gangster fil with Stallone).
Anyway, I miss the good old security and care free days.

off topic but Krispy, How on earth did you manage to get tickets to the oscars?!
Also, I went to the Tony's last year and wore a red coctail dress, it was fairly bright but nothing dramatic. It looked SORT OF like this one:
then again i wasn't in the orchestra so it didnt really matter as much
Cages or wings? Which do you prefer? Ask the birds. Fear or love, baby? Don't say the answer Actions speak louder than words. (Tick, Tick... BOOM!)

Yes, I work in media, but my boyfriend is the one who gets the tickets every year.
Allmylife, I will PM you with more Oscar stories. I don't want to hijack this thread. I don't want to steal Elphie3's thunder......going to the Tonys is beyond exciting....I am jealous!!
