So... who's excited for Tarzan?

I'm strongly anti-Disney (I haven't seen BATB OR TLK...I did see "Aida" and loved it, but I like to pretend it's not a Disney production) so this will be the first time I'm selling out and seeing one of the Mickey Mouse shows on the Great White Way.

I don't know what it is that has me so excited to see this show (hint: it rhymes with bloincloth)

Well as much as I dislike Disney, I do like creativity (aka Lion King) and unlike BATB, this should be very interesting. I don't have any intention of seeing it right away but I do think it will be a sucess.

"Disney Theatricals is turning out profitable Shows.

Ah yes and PROFITABLE is always synonymous with GOOD.

But I will cut them SOME slack because I loved Aida and I'm going to see Tarzan. So I guess that makes me a big ol' hypocrite.

downtowndiva84,

How do you even know that they aren't good, if you haven't seen most of them, and liked the one you DID see? And as far as pretending that Aida wasn't theirs, Tarzan will probably be most like Aida than any other one, because the designer Bob Crowley is the designer and director of this one too, as well as the music having that same rock flavour.

I never said they weren't good! ugh, I always accidentally get myself into arguments.

I was merely responding to the "their shows are profitable" statement. Profitable doesn't always equal good. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, it's all a matter of taste anyways.

I was half joking when I said that I pretend "Aida" isn't Disney. I know it is. I was intrigued enough to go see it because I love the opera and I'm a big Adam Pascal fan. I gained some more respect for Disney after seeing it.

As for TLK, I know everyone loves it and I'm sure it's great. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to seeing it. I'm sorry if I offended anyone--my Disney hatred is only half serious and is mostly the result of being raised by extreme hippies.

Hah,

Arguments are okay, don't you worry. As long as they stay respectful, this board is all about sharing opinions. I'm not necessarilly disagreeing with you about Disney, just that there seems to be a flaw in your logic. And I'm also trying to say of all the Disney shows, Tarzan seems like it will be be most like Aida in tone...so keep an open mind becuase you may enjoy it.

Yeah I know there's flaw in my logic lol...what can I say, I'm a walking contradiction.

I'm not going into Tarzan hoping to hate it! In fact, I'm hoping/expecting to really like it. I'm mostly going for Josh, but I'm thinking that there are going to be some really interesting things with the design. And a dancer that I know who auditioned for Tarzan said that the choreography whould be VERY interesting, so I'm psyched.

I'm really excited for it! Have heard good buzz. Especially looking forward to seeing this cast--especially Jenn Gambatese and Chester Gregory, back together again after their "Hairspray" days! Chester is AMAZING in everything he does--can't wait to see his Terk!

I'm kinda scared...

I mean how good is the show gonna do if it doesn't have a tryout?
So I'm nervous what's gonna happen.
