According to Mr. Wontorek, Joe Esterhaus is planning a campy musical based on the cult classic, Showgirls. Here, Wontorek gives a breakdown of who he'd like to see cast.
FYI....it's for a Vegas production, surprise, surprise.

Bring it to Broadway! This is one movie to stage musical I would actually want to see. Idina could play Cristal Connors. Kristin would make an interesting Nomi Malone. Game show contestants could play the other strippers. Where do I get my tickets?
Musical numbers will include:
"There's always someone younger and prettier coming down the stairs behind you."

i just hope they keep the choreography from the movie. those 'hand routines' were mesmerizing.

Yes but the closing number of Act One could be the stirring, "I'm a Dancer."
I would see this in a second. I think this is where porn stunt casting is going to help out. Idina, Kristin and Sutton are not taking their tops off. However, I could see Jenna Jameson playing Crystal.

Posted: 9/22/06 at 3:49pmThere is a "short" promo that is included on the original "Showgirls" DVD (not the box set version that has the pasties)that actually refers to the "Showgirls" film as being a musical! I guess it's because of the dancing but I wouldn't consider the film to be a musical. However, I think it would make a very good one.
