Noticed this first hand over at Cyrano today...she actually tore up somebody's photo (that they wanted her to sign) because she didn't like that the outfit was see-through.
Kinda rude...considering she asked if she could tear it up after she actually did...
I think it is even more rude to be asked to sign a picture of yourself where you look naked, especially since she is not a Pamela Anderson/Carmen Electra type.
I guess it is her way of dispelling a certain image of her. Completely understandable, especially since every one of the people I know who have stagedoored CYRANO say she has been nothing but kind and humble to the people waiting.
I'm surprised she didn't kick him in the crotch.
Sydney Bristow would have...

Oh, she's very nice. I actually saw her jump on the hood of her awaiting Escalade to reach Playbills to sign.
I just would have asked to tear up the photo before actually doing it.
Lol if it was me, I would have taken the sharpie and drawn a new outfit on me...lol and then put something like "You're never fully dressed without a smile and a sharpie! -Stephanie"....hahahaha
Does she sign after matinees?
Does she tear up photos after matinees?
...or just evening performances?
Dodo shouldn't have worn a see through outfit

She did this when I was there too. The reason she is tearing the picture up is because she doesn't want those kind of pictures circulating around, especially on eBay where that one was probably going to go. I doubt the person whose photo it was would have said "Sure, tear it up if you want."
But, she is actually extremely kind to everyone. There was an autograph collector/(probably) seller on the other side of the barricade from me who dropped his whole binder of celebrity photos on the ground and all the pictures fell out and she actually helped him pick them up, even though I'm sure she realized he was just going to sell the autographs later. She even took a picture with him, which might be his "proof" for eBay.
I worked for an actress who had had photos appear in Playboy many years before, and when people brought those photos to her for autographing, she would refuse to sign them. However, she never took them away from the owners.
I have no issues with with celebs getting "tough" with sellers. More often than not the sellers often set themselves apart by their rudeness. Many, not all, feel the celebs "owe" something to them and I really have no problem with Ms. Garners actions.
Even if she'd refused to sign it the photo probably would have ended up on ebay with the caption "Jennifer Garner touched this photo but refused to sign". Someone would pay for it.

I find it remarkable that you could run up to someone in public and ask them to sign a nude photo of themselves and someone will call them rude when they take offense.
If she takes offense, that's fine. If she refuses to sign, that's fine. If she gives the fan a piece of her mind, that's fine. If she ignores them, that's fine.
But ripping up someone's personal property? I really think that's inappropriate. Just my opinion.

Oh, please. Like he didn't just print that off the internet.
Maybe, but what if it was a treasured souvenir that the fan bought, and they didn't realize it was an inappropriate image?
She's hot, she should embrace her hotness,
I agree she can refuse to sign but tearing it up is impolite.
I worked with her when she was young and unfamous and she wasn't very nice, but hey people can change.
I bet she got a bunch of dough to pose for that.
If she hates it so most she should donate the money she made to pose for it to a charity, now that would be a statement.
Julie Harris posed for Playboy?
Why am I not surprised Yankee was lurking at the stagedoor just to get some tidbit of gossip like this?
I don't know exactly how I would react to something like that. If it was from a show, I would just hand it back and say "get over it". If it was obviously one of those doctored pictures floating around than I would have torn it up saying, "do better next time".
Some fans are just scary but if she did dress up so provocatively for the camera, what do you expect? She has the right to refuse anyone. I am not too worried about the picture though. They could probably download a copy from the Internet. If it was a "prized possession" than they should have asked her would she consider signing this before handing it out to be signed. They were being bold to ask for it to begin with. So, you take your chances. It wasn't that fans lucky day.
Now if Ben Affleck jumped out of his SUV and roughed them up some for carrying around lewd pictures of his Wife, that would have been funny! Slap 'em around some! What a crowd pleaser that would have been!

I find it remarkable that my post was censored. all i did was post a picture from ebay of Jenn
FunnyFace, I agree. She KNOWS she's hot property for photographers. She should be wearing stuff she's embarrassed to be seen in.
Still, tearing it up? That's absurd. Makes me GLAD I'm not a fan. You can classily and tactfully decline to sign something (saw it done several times outside The Vertical Hour) ~ but ripping it up? Jeez, the emotionally disturbed students at my school would do something like that. REAL mature.
Either be polite or have the stage door manager go out and announce she'll only be signing things from the play like they did for Kevin Spacey outside A Moon for the Misbegotten.

I don't know, I understand that there are certain photos that you wouldn't want to be circulating, and certainly you wouldn't want to sign them to encourage it, but I think there may have been a better way to handle the situation.
I wasn't there so of course I'm just speculating, but the fact that she even asked if she could tear the photo up, though belatedly, suggests that she either just reacted when she saw the picture and tore it up without thinking, or at least second-guessed herself after she had done so. I'd cut her some slack. By all other accounts she's very nice with the fans, even when being mobbed at the stage door. Even if she didn't handle this one situation perfectly, that's not really enough to indict her for it and there's no reason to assume she would react the same way if the situation arose again.
