I was a big fan of Carole Demas on Magic Garden as a child, but... I don't really see her in the same league as a Patti LuPone, to be honest.

That's fine, but that wasn't my point. In reality at that point in time LuPone really was unknown, Carole Demas wasn't, she already had GREASE under her belt and visibility on THE MAGIC GARDEN people knew or had an inkling of who she was because of that.

I'm not trying to pit them against each other. My post wasn't about that.

I wouldn't throw a pity party for Miss Demas. Sure LuPone has gone on to major theater stardom but Demas is very talented and well respected in the theater community and she has had her share of successes...her rendition of "Meadowlark" is beautiful. Again, not comparing or inviting comparisons to LuPone's version.

This made me laugh my ass off. You make it sound like the civil war. Seeing Patti chirp, "Me and Glenn Close made up" sounds so foolish. Patti constructed this issue with Glenn out of her insane ego. Patti's feelings towards ALW are justified. Her feelings towards Glenn were immature at best, especially as she explains it in her memoir (which I read).

I would never threaten anyone, doll. I love Patti. These people who are so angry and vitriolic about her I will NEVER understand. Like, I'm not that big a fan of Liza but you won't find me calling her a cow or any number of horrible things that are said about Patti.

I have to chalk it up to jealousy. She is the most talented Broadway performer of our generation, and some people can't handle that.

I think part of it is that Patti wears everything on her sleeve. I promise you that most any actress in her position is as insecure and "difficult" as she is, but most hide it better. With Patti what ya see is what ya get.

Also, I think there is a certain type of shallow theater fan who gets a kick out of making fun of Patti's unconventional appearance. I happen to think she's beautiful, in her own way, and her talent certainly is beautiful.

Because it doesn't matter where, on TB or here or any other Broadway oriented website, any time Patti LuPone's name is mentioned, people like you have to interject with your venom when nobody asked your opinion. I can handle a disagreement. We all have different opinions. It's cool. However, in the past I've gotten threatening contacts from the "Patti Police", as I call them.

I love Patti as a performer, as a person she is often rude. I like when people justify her rude behavior by saying "she pulls no punches" or "says it like it is". Whatevs-to each their own.

Me neither, ABit. In fact, in my (very limited) dealings with her she's always been quite gracious.
