why didn't it recoup

because they spent too much money redoing inflatable costumes that didnt work. Philly, by the end of the run, half of the set was not working. It was a $hit show.

I knew it had to be only one person who would bring back a 6 year old thread.

The same reason any show doesn't recoup. Not enough people buy enough tickets to pay back the initial investment.

Philly, why do you keep necroposting?
Posted: 8/21/15 at 7:13pm
HAH! "necroposting" - wonderful term!
... and I'm still glad that I started using the block function. For only one name.

Little Mermaid flopped for the same reasons ALL Broadway flops flop: because Phillypinto told us it would be a hit. Even before it opened, he told us it would be a huge hit. He also told us what theatre it was going into, though it ended up going into a different theatre than the theatre he knew it was going into, but that must be because they changed their minds, because he definitely had heard it was going into the other theatre. And when word of mouth from previews was bad, he told us everyone he knew was saying it was great, and it was just a few people who didn't like some parts of it, but that those parts would get fixed in previews, because all shows get fixed in previews. And when the reviews were bad, he told us it was going to be a hit anyway, and was going to win lots of Tony awards - just wait and see. And when it didn't win lots of Tony awards, and it was losing money, he told us the producers, who were friends of his, had told him they were going to stick it out, and wouldn't close until it recouped. And when it didn't recoupe, and Disney closed the show, Philly never mentioned it again and didn't recall making any of those earlier statements.

EchoParker, that is one of the best Philly-related posts I've ever seen.

Because it used Heelys.

EchoParker. That sounds exactly like what he had to say about Honeymoon in Vegas. :) For some reason all the people I had on Ignore are showing up again. A setting must have gotten messed up.

Remember when that Pinto thing said that LIVING ON LOVE was going to be a gigantic hit and then it folded like 3 weeks after opening? Why not revive that thread, Pinto thing?

That was so on the money Echo.
I'm literally loling.

As far as I know, the show hasn't even unflopped on regionals and amateur licensing because they keep pulling the rights to tinker with the materials again and again.

That was really mean

No Howard Shore, it wasn't mean. That is what he does time and time again. He is a lying troll.

...and by repeating the entire post, it could be said that you're adding to the insult.
(Although I thought it was spot on and I have no sympathy for Mr. Pinto)

Mean? You have no idea what you're talking about.

Saying the Little Mermaid was a good idea, is like saying Hillary is a qualified candidate.
