Please not long! As we'll have to wait a LONG time for another revival, hopefully that is worth the material.

This revival is such a travesty, I don't see why they should wait for Graham to leave before it closes given that one of the major reasons the show should close is her! I guess she does attract people though, ugh.
I just wish they could erase this revival from everyone's mind and bring in the Donmar production as if nothing had ever happened.

It hasn't done that poorly at the box office, however. It's averaged 85%ish over it's run. At that number, it will run for a while.

Just because a show isn't stellar, doesn't mean it won't run. West Side Story certainly is proving that point.

dramamama611, couldn't have said it better myself. West Side Story is just as much of a piece of crap. I actually likes Guys and Dolls better than WSS. But also look at Rent which was running in the same theatre for a really long time. After 9/11 it dropped to around 65% and ran for several more years. So it might have the potential to stay longer.

RENT was dirt cheap to run, that's why it lasted so long. GUYS AND DOLLS has not made any money yet. Comparing them is absolutely hilarious.

Also, attendance doesn't mean much. It all depends on they're gross. People still do not comprehend this??

While Guys and Dolls are both flawed revivals I think it's hard to compare the two. While both are classic pieces of musical theatre I, personally, think WSS is more of a draw. It's going to grab the tourists more because the movie is more beloved among the masses. WSS is one of those films that even people who don't really care for musical theatre love. Guys and Dolls not so much.

I think that once Lauren Graham leaves the show is doomed because it didn't get many if any good reviews so I can't really see it pass the holidays.

i've heard rumors, and they are just that rumor and speculation, that they will last through at least labor day but there is talk of what could potentially take over the Nederlander. So part of the decision may depend on that.
