I have no idea how you arrived at that opinion. I just can't imagine thinking that.

I read the subject and had no clue what this post would be about. Now I still really don't know why this post was created.

I think this came out sounding meaner than he meant it. Like, they should only sing because their voices are so beautiful?

That's kind of what I thought, too, Em. I think people often read things too literally on here.

But I really don't think that Martin's voice is that amazing at all.

That's interesting...since he's had a successful run on a television drama...
Personally, I thought he was the best part of the movie.

Jesse L. Martin and Patrick Wilson are excellent actors. So I think the person you started the post was saying because they have amazing singing talent as well.

I was merely saying that their singing voices are brilliant, and that they should always sing.

that's weird because I would consider him an actor before a singer..

Jesse L. Martin is both a wonderful singer and actor, so he should be able to do both.
And then, do you know Monseiur Marius, I believe I was a little in love with you.

Ha, that was a weird way of saying it. But I agree. Jesse's voice is my favorite part of the Rent movie.

If you had said this ten years ago, before his voice was deteriorating, I might have agreed.

I think he sounds better now actually. JMO.
My favorite parts of RENT were Tracie Thoms and Idina Menzel. But that has nothing to do with this.

Holy seahorses! Are you kidding?!?! Even a non-crazed RENTHEAD could tell you he had some of the better lines of that movie!

I think Patrick Wilson and Jesse are AMAZING singers AND actors
While we're on the subject of RENT, Adam Pascal's acting did not translate well to the screen at all, so he should stick to singing. And neither did his mullet.
RENT made me stop hating Idina for Wicked on the other hand. Her acting and goofiness made me really warm up to her and enjoy the movie a little.
Tracy I can give or take on acting, it was a little cheesey, but her voice was insane.
Anthony is here nor there for me, I think he just has this role DOWN so that wherever he has to do it, he can adjust it accordingly (stage, screen, soundtrack)
Wilson added some cuteness to alot of the lines that Angel has that you wouldn't be able to see from the stage and facial expressions a lense would take to see.

I definitely love Jesse L. Martin's voice. And he really worked hard to get it in shape for the film -- I think it's much stronger than on the OBCR. But I've heard that the cast wasn't happy with that, so maybe it's not an accurate reflection of his voice at that time. But I thought he did such a damn good job in the movie -- especially "I'll Cover You" Reprise.

Jesse's I'll Cover You Reprise brings me to tears.
I do think he should speak, though. I mean, can you imagine him singing all of his lines on Law and Order? I don't think he'd ever catch a killer!
