Any other reports back from yesterday's cast change?

At the matinee I've heard it was good fun bar excessive giggling from the front stalls, and La Ellis knocked it out of the park in the evening after obviously holding it back that afternoon.

I went and, as expected, it was carnage. The screaming was just rabid but, and I never thought I'd say this, it kind of added to the atmosphere and I didn't mind it at all. I think if it had been my first time it would have pissed me off but it was my tenth, I knew it was cast change and I knew they were going to scream. I just hoped that Kerry's performance would be worthy of such piss-soaked excitement and it really was. Kerry seemed to enjoy it and even encouraged it, even cupping her ear on the word 'scream' in The Wizard and I. It wasn't Elphaba, it was very much the Kerry Ellis Show, and she did a f*cking good job of it.

Maybe not but it was her last night and it's what was basically expected of her from a crowd of rabid fangirls (not everyone, but the majority)

Seriously, Mama?

It her last show after playing the role for over 2 years. She is allowed to have a little fun - it was nothing too big or distracting, just a few little nods to the fact she was leaving.

I don't see it as a very good 'private joke' when it's shared by at least 3 quaters of the audience! Glad you enjoyed it lovepigeon, if I'd had the funds I'd have been there too
