Two of his wonderful songs, "Move On" and "It Takes Two" were murdered on Broadway's Back.

Since the Tonys was reuniting classic couples, they should've brought back Joanna Gleason and Chip Zien to do ''It Takes Two'' from ''Into the Woods.'' Was any thought given to asking Bernadette Peters, who was there, to reunite with Mandy Patinkin for ''Move On'' from ''Sunday in the Park With George''? Or inviting Jake Gyllenhaal and Annaleigh Ashford, who also were there, to reprise their duet from THEIR ''Sunday'' revival? Or what about a quartet of Peters, Patinkin, Gyllenhaal and Ashford doing ''Move On,'' or a combo of Peters and Gyllenhaal? These would be all far better than what we got.

Luckily what aired on CBS was watchable. I'm almost glad the awards weren't on because 95% of viewers would have switched after the 1st line of hairspray. If anyone should sue it's that writer, or sorry still love her but j Holliday should sue herself.
When I saw Ben Platt I thought he would sing a song from Dear Evan Hansen.

He’s stated several times with the film adaptation of DEAR EVAN HANSEN he has closed that chapter forever. It could be years before we see him sing a song from the show again. The show was part of his life for many years so he wants to finally put it aside and move on.

This thread made me laugh out loud, I didn't expect it. Thank you (I agree they murdered It Takes Two, but I liked Move On)

Ah, yes, this was absolutely deserving of its own thread. 🙄
Did it ever occur to people that maybe they did ask the people in the audience if they wanted to perform?
Even if they didn't, simmer down people. It was a nice mix of original casts and new pairings.
And how about giving them a little credit for having an interracial gay pairing to sing on CBS!
Ben Platt could have sung something from Barnum, like “Thank God I’m Old.”
