People have been talking about the idea (the story of a relationship from the present back to the moment when the couple first met) and title of
All Together Now as though it was something new between Sondheim and Ives, forgetting that Steve first developed this with Terrence McNally back in 1991. There are drafts of a script, and notes, stored in the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin.
McNally's version followed Arden Scott, a 30-something female sculptor, and Daniel Nevin, a slightly younger, sexually charismatic restaurateur; one wonders if this will survive to Ives' version.
