He's come to Melbourne to see "Forum" with Geoffrey Rush. They're holding an 'event' with him. Though light on details, it should be insightful. I'll let you know.
I see that I forgot to attach the link.

All Together Now...

People have been talking about the idea (the story of a relationship from the present back to the moment when the couple first met) and title of All Together Now as though it was something new between Sondheim and Ives, forgetting that Steve first developed this with Terrence McNally back in 1991. There are drafts of a script, and notes, stored in the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin.

McNally's version followed Arden Scott, a 30-something female sculptor, and Daniel Nevin, a slightly younger, sexually charismatic restaurateur; one wonders if this will survive to Ives' version.

All Together Now...

Direct from the horse's mouth - All Together Now is to be an adaptation of David Ives' 'notional' play Sure Thing. He tried it with several other playwrights, but none of them were quite on the same page as he.

The show has a draft script, an opening number, and half of the second. He is also searching for new excuses not to write, following his injury.

Clearly cryptic subject lines don't draw attention.

All Together Now...

Given the lack of completion, one has to wonder if this will ever see the light of day.

That's exciting. I love Sure Thing. I just wonder how they're going to expand it to sustain a full length stage production.
