That overture is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard, made all the more beautiful by that full orchestra. Those tour audiences are some lucky folks. The score alone is worth the price of admission. It would have been a shame if this production received anything less than a full orchestra. It just... needs it.

Posted: 9/20/09 at 5:39pmHoly guacamole, that's going to be absolutely glorious. It is my dream to conduct a large orchestra on Broadway...but I would gladly conduct a 30 piece national tour orchestra, as well (someday...)!

Pretty much every tour only travels with a core group of musicians and then augments with members of the local AFM. That is nothing new at all.
