Am I the only one who has noticed that there is one female ensemble member in "I'm Gonna Wash That Man" who looks like she walked into the wrong scene, wearing the wrong costume?

You are probably referring to Lisa Howard, who plays Genevieve Marshall, the Lieutenant amongst the nurses who is always dressed conservatively.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Thanks for clearing that up! I saw them on Letterman, and on the TV special and I was confused!

How does she get her hair dry so fast after that number?

This is a dumb question, but why did Kelli get her haircut if she wears a wig? Is it just so it is easier to put on the wig and dry it after it gets wet?

why did Kelli get her haircut if she wears a wig?

- Maybe she's a method actress? Heck, Victoria Clark visited Phoenix to prepare for playing Sally Durant in a concert for 5 performances.
Some actors just want the full experience of being the character.

And she visited Ireland for Juno. I love that about her!

Originally Kelli was going to use her own hair (hence the haircut) but eventually it was decided it would be easier to just wig her.

So she washes a wig instead of her hair?

Seems like they should change the song to "I'm Gonna Wash That Wig Right Off Of My Head"...

So do they use a waterproof mic then? I noticed on the Letterman show that when she gets back into the shower the 2nd time, there's a strange sound coming from the speakers. Does anyone know what that is?

Water bouncing off the mic maybe?

she was always going to wear a wig, it was never an option for her to wash her own hair.

she is wearing a two piece bathing suit. if it was her own hair, there would be NO place to hide a microphone, and it would be out in the open, clipped to her top. This would cause alot of water to splash on it.

She is wearing two extremely well hidden microphones, both waterproof. One mic pack sits in her costume, hidden in the bathing suit top on the right side of her body, the second pack is hidden in her wig cap, and both mics sit at the front of her wig.

If she was always going to wear a wig, why did she cut her hair?

Maybe she wanted something shorter for the summer.

There was a video on broadway.com of Kelli getting a haircut specifically for South Pacific.

She wasn't always going to wear the wig. On broadway.com she mentions she got the cut specifically so she could wash her hair during that scene. However, before the show even started, they realized it wasn't going to cut it so they made her wear a wig.
