Which one would you chose? (And yes I can only see one of them!)
Chorus Line

Is A Chorus Line a great show, or is it just very hyped up like Wicked?
What would you rather see?
A 2.5 hour flashy musical with no real plotline and laughs every 5 seconds or a 2 hour musical (no intermission) that is more dramatic and tells the stories of the lives of dancers striving to get a job in a chorus line?
I don't know much about Chorus Line, but it certainly isn't as hyped up like Wicked.
Hyped up like WICKED?
A CHORUS LINE is a brilliant show. It won the Pulitzer Prize. It was once the longest running show in Broadway history. You can't not see this show.

A CHORUS LINE is one of the greatest shows ever created -- the most seemless integration of words, music, design and movement that the musical theatre has ever seen. WICKED doesn't even begin to be in its class. Or SPAMALOT.
You probably should just ask yourself, "Why do I want to see either of these at all?" One is mindless fun, a dressed up version of a college musical that takes pot shots at any and everything. The other is a classic, in many respects the Shakespeare of the Broadway stage. Both are perfectly valid entertainments, but it just depends on what *you* like when it comes to seeing a show.
And I'll be honest: I'd be torn. I've seen both -- ACL when it first played back in the Neolithic Age, and SPAMALOT last year. Frankly, I dont think either is worth the money being charged for the tickets, but that's my own opinion. But both are good pieces of theatre, just different.
Couldn't agree more! This is a no-brainer, see A CHORUS LINE!
I love them both, but go see A CHORUS LINE
Is the Spamalot tour coming to a location near you sometime in the future? If so, and you can see it, hold off on Spamalot and see A Chorus Line.
Personally, I prefer the nonsense 2.5 hour musical lol and would see Spamalot - if I haven't seen it 3 times already. But again, don't know much about Chorus Line so...yeah...I would like to check that out sometime in the future.
My mom saw Chorus Line sometime during the original run and didn't care for it. I think it's her personal preference for the flashy musical.

It's good, I enjoyed it...but it's not THAT good.
I agree with Margo that ACL is one of the greatest shows ever created...DEFINITELY see ACL. This shouldn't even be an issue.

I'd say scrape them both and see "Grey Gardens." Chorus Line and Spamalot are going to be touring for a while and I'm sure you'll end up seeing them on tour, and you're going for the shows and not a certain cast memeber right? However, Grey Garden has little chance of touring since the main attraction is the leading lady.
Good thinking!
Either one is great, so whichever you choose, you won't be disappointed.

They'll both be here forever, but based on what I've heard (I've only seen Spamalot) I'd pick Chorus Line.
If you can see only one see Chorus Line with out a doubt!

I live in London so I could see Spamalot here as it's just opened. I don't think there is going to be a revival of A Chorus Line in London anytime soon. I've heard that Drowsy Chaperone, Jersey Boys and possibly Hairspray will be coming over here in 2007, as will Lord of the Rings.
I think the $110 ticket is putting me off A Chorus Line as it's only a 2 hour show. It's a shame they isn't a Broadway offer like there is for Company.
I agree with Margo. A Chorus Line "is one of the greatest shows ever created" and it's a rare opportunity to see it done at this level.

A Chorus Line is definitely, definitely better. I agree with munk and Margo (btw munk, I love your icon!)
Spamalot is funny. You could choose it, but only if you are a Python fan looking for laughs, and no real QUALITY. I loved it, but see A CHORUS LINE. You will love it.
Why would you even compare these two shows?
It just depends what you're up for. If you're up for a good night out that you don't have to think too hard, some silly, escapist, entertainment, then go to Spamalot, because for those reasons, it is brilliant.
If you want to see something a little deeper, honest, and serious, then go see A Chorus Line, because for those reasons, it is also brilliant.
Why does everything with you people have to be about "better" or "worse"?
