Spanish Brodway Stars#1
Posted: 2/23/09 at 4:30pmI have to do a project on a Spanish star of some type. Does anyone know any? Other than the stars of In The Heights and someone who is kind of main stream someone who people might know who are not into to Broadway. Updated On: 2/23/09 at 04:30 PM

John Leguizamo
I assume it needs to be somone born in a Spanish speaking country not someone of Spanish/Hispanic descent.

PIRAG, YOU STOLE MY IDEA.
And wow... someone hasn't learned how to be "politically correct"
As solitary obviously points out.
Learn the correct term or that project is going to get a big fat F !!

Posted: 2/23/09 at 8:21pmI think that the only spanish (I mean... from spain) actor who played in broadway is Antonio Banderas in NINE

What about Raul Esparza...? I know he was born here, but of Cuban parents, and grew up in Miami, and went to a Cuban connected school, etc...so he is as Cuban as any born there, IMO :I
And, yes, Spanish is someone from Spain. Hispanic or Latin are all the rest.

Posted: 2/25/09 at 10:06amYou could try performer/choreographer/director Graciela Daniele from Argentina. Or the celebrated director and co-founder of Circle in the Square, Jose Quintero from Panama. Antonio Banderas may be the most famous Spanish actor to perform on Broadway, but I doubt he is the ,only one. For example, one of Spain's most famous flamenco dancers and choreographers, Sara Baras, appeared on Broadway in Gypsy Passion. I saw her award-winning flamenco ballet, Mariana Pinedas in Madrid in 2002, which was breathtaking, and am hoping to get the opportunity to see her new work, Sabores.
