Hi All!
I am currently taking Spanish, and I have discovered, listening to cast albums in Spanish is helping me pick things up a little bit better. Is there any place I can buy more than just "Phantom" or "Cabaret" (I already checked Footlight), and pref. at a reasonable cost?

The one Spanish-language CD I really wanna listen to is GYPSY with soap-opera star Sylvia Pinal and rock-star daughter Alehandra Guzman.
Husk, this isn't much help but on iTunes they have a track of Bianca Marroquin singing the medley "Me and My Baby/Funny Honey/Nowadays" in Spanish.

Posted: 1/29/08 at 10:20pmMovies help, of course, but what husk is doing is really smart. Taking something you enjoy and using it to learn a new language. I'm a Native Spanish speaker who learned to speak English, showtunes were definitely one of my main sources of learning. You acquire a lot of vocabulary, idioms, and listening skills from them.

Posted: 1/29/08 at 10:23pmIt's cool if it's a show you know very well and then you listen to it in Spanish and you know what they're saying, but you have to listen to the "new" words and make sense of them. It's fun.

CMoore, gracias, that was a very sweet comment. Yo tenia quince cuando me mude a los Estados Unidos en el 2001, fue dificil aprender pero con esfuerzo se puede. Your Spanish is really good, btw.
I'm not in love with Jaystarr's list, only Alejandro Sanz and Sarita Montiel excite me, Paulina Rubio has some good music but her personality is so nasty that it makes me loathe whatever she touches. Sanz is pure gold though.
Either way, back on track, I'm quite interested about the actual topic of the thread.

I have quite a bit of Spanish language musical theatre recordings, but hands-down... my favorite is the Madrid cast of MAMMA MIA! Whenever I need a a MAMMA MIA! fix, that is the sole CD I listen to. I even have it on my iPhone. LOVE IT!
Off the top of my head, the Spanish language cast recordings I have are:
EL FANTASMA DE LA OPERA (Mexican Cast)
CATS (Mexican Cast)
HOLA, DOLLY! (with Silvia Pinal)
GYPSY (with Silvia Pinal and rock-star daughter Alejandra Guzman as Gypsy)
ANNIE (Madrid Cast)
SWEENEY TODD (Barcelona Cast)
EVITA (with Paloma San Basilio)
Can't remember the others but there are a few more.
