Can anybody that has seen the show recently confirm that that is how "If The World Should End" is done now? Does Jennifer Damiano REALLY sing THAT LITTLE? Or did they just change it and let Reeve sing more tonight for the awards show?

they changed it for the awards to let Reeve sing.
Oh ok..THANK GOD! lol
I love Reeve and Jennifer but that song was Jennifer's song in the show and it was weird having Reeve sing so much more in it since it was clearly NOT in his range.
In my opinion, they should have sang "I Just Can't Walk Away"
I didn't hate it. But my mind wasn't blown by it, either.
I wish they would have done Rise Above with T.V. Carpio. I REALLY would have liked them to do Deeply Furious, but we can't always have what we want
Rise Above would have been fun to see and also someone new to see.
They should have done "Rise Above" (but they probably thought that that number has been overdone for promotion)
or "Boy Falls From The Sky" (they haven't done that number in a while and Reeve SHINES in it)
But they probably wanted to showcase Jennifer Damiano as well?

The song is better than "I Believe." "I Believe isn't funny and it's a one idea song that doesn't develop."
The song was boring. THe actors looked bored singing it and I almost fell asleep watching it. It was not a good choice.
I nodded off during it. Spiderman is going to be a tough sell.
It wasn't bad, it was just boring.
A moody song that went nowhere and said nothing. Reeve Carney looks like James Franco's younger brother. That's as far as I got with forming an opinion before I checked out mentally.
I agree. Spiderman did nothing to help improve it's chances of seeking an audience. The only entertaining thing about that segment of the show was watching how uncomfortable Bono and Edge were and the fact that they had to make themselves the butt of jokes to get out alive. Not a fan of Bono so watching him squirm was more fun then watching the show segment.
This was the dullest part of the show.
And I don't see it doing a thing for ticket sales.
I couldn't get over how apparently he lives in Morningside Heights and she lives on the Lower East Side but apparently they go to the same school?
A love song on a fire escape. Where have I seen that before?
Was that a fire escape?! I thought it was a ski lift ... or a carnival ride (like Sweet Charity).
Spider Man: Turn On the Lights
ugh! They might as well have been singing "If Our Show Should Close..."

I have an unpopular opinion about this, but the Spider-Man song was one of the highlights of the Tonys for me. I guess I can appreicate a pretty song(even if it is boring) and don't have to have nonstop excitement.
It was a highlight for me as well, loved the song, loved how simple the performance was and those 2 had great chemistry.
Im thrilled they did this song with no spectacle, i thought it was a wonderful idea. I did not find it boring at all, its a love ballad, what did people want, flying, acrobatics, effects?
I am going to give kudos where kudos are deserved.
I found Spider-man to be a little endearing now. I kind-a hope it does better this time around. And the fact that Bono and The Edge both made their own cracks about it made them really good sports.

I've seen Spiderman, Versions 1 and 2. Personally, I don't think they've done much to "improve" the show, but that's another board, another matter. However, I don't think the show did itself any big favors by doing that number -- out-of-towners may be thinking, "Well, if that's all they can come up with for all the money that's been spent, I'm not going to that boring turkey." Just my opionion, nothing more.

By that point in the show they're out of school, moved out on their own, and MJ is starring in a stage musical version of "The Fly."
I agree with ed_mottershead. I liked the "soundtrack" quite a bit when I heard it a few days ago, and so I think they made a poor choice of selling the show with that song. I think Reeve Carney and Jennifer Damiano are fine rock singers (especially Carney), but this song/performance did not come off well -- and certainly doesn't create a hunger to see more.

I saw the 2.0 version of that song and found it boring.
The floor acrobats/aerial gymnast stunts in Spidey suits would have been much more exciting. I am not talking rigged flying or using any equipment. Watching a row of flips and acrobats in motion is always exciting. that's the kind of thing you'd want to go see. I also wanted to see the sets.
