Not just the interview but "Ms. Winfrey also wrote that after seeing just a couple of numbers in rehearsal, she told her schedulers to “clear the decks for opening night: ‘I have to be there!’" Maybe they keep changing Opening Night to accommodate Oprah's busy schedule.

Oprah's endorsement makes me want to see this less, but unfortunately, it will make other folk want to see it more. Oh well.
I'm sorry but Oprah has no taste. She's as pedestrian as they come. She builds careers for the likes of Dr. Phil and Rachel Ray-two fellow morons. She has the world's best chefs at her disposal and says her favorite food is french fries. She has a 3 chefs and a trainer and can't keep weight off.
Oprah is Wonder Bread.
I love Oprah so much.
If she's having flying dreams from seeing a rehearsal... then imagine what a preview will do.
OH, and is that a picture of Julie and Oprah in front of the Chrysler building everyone has been talking about?! I haven't seen the show yet, but that's really a nice looking set.
I can't stand Oprah to be honest with you. i agree with what has been said about her so far. And, I highly doubt that they would move the opening around just so that Oprah could get to go to the opening night. I doubt that that wouldn't be worth the flack for them. The flack that they are currently getting.
Glenn Beck will for sure be at the opening. I would LOVE IT if Oprah and Glenn Beck were seated next to each other.
I'm not a fan of Oprah because she simply puts her stamp on something and then the stampede begins! If you preach it, they will come. I also think her show is utterly pap, even though I applaud her generosity in giving her studio audience really amazing gifts. That's where it ends though.
Sometimes I wonder if she's just championing underdogs with her status. Then again, since she interviewed Julie, she has to plug Spiderman, what else would she have said? "Sorry gang, the show sucks, don't bother"? I've listened to her plugs in the past and was never impressed by anything she pitched.
I am going to be honest and say I admire Taymor.
I want to hear more from her on how she thinks things are going over at the Foxwoods...in an honest way.
And funny how the one thing she is proud of is the "female power" in the show-i.e. Arachne and 'Deeply Furious'.
I was absolutely NOT gong to see this show. I even signed a petition to close it down, but if Oprah endorses it, I will see it!

Yeah, her proudest moment is the "female power" song... about shoes. Great, Julie.

Julie's feminism has gotten pretty annoying. I mean, Rafiki in The Lion King, Prospero in The Tempest. Why can't she just stay true to the source material?
^ I understand Rafiki and a need for a female lead. That makes sense to me. Plus, it's a baboon so if St. Jimmy can be a girl...
But "The Tempest" is just out of control. It makes me think of that review that she said she sees herself in that move but she's proving to be neither a genius nor ahead of her time. It makes me laugh every time and I love Taymor for the train wreck factor.
I also loved "Flavor of Love" and New York specifically though, to put things in perspective.
