Spring Awakening Extension?

I was inspired to ask about a possible extension for the Spring Awakening revival after seeing the thread about closing dates being extended...
I saw the Spring Awakening revival is scheduled to close on January 9th and I was planning on making it to NYC before then but I JUST found out I won't be able to make it until February or so. Pretty freaking bummed. Never been able to see a production of the show and I was so looking forward to it.
So, I guess my question is, does "absolutely 18 weeks only" and "must close January 9" actually mean that or will Spring Awakening somehow pull a fast one and extend longer than that?

No chance of it extending. Another show is moving in right after it's done.

Read this. It's from Ken Davenport, the lead producer.

The show hasn't been officially announced. It's very expensive to move quickly show.

Well crap...consider my heart broken. Oh well...thanks. Somehow missed that part or decided to block it out of my mind.

To be Fair, Davenport SWORE Its Only A Play was only going to be 14 weeks or whatever to drive sales then it extended almost 6 months, i don't believe it til i see it close.

Hm... He sounds pretty sure about this one, but you never know. I wouldn't get your hopes up.
I'm lucky enough to be seeing it in November, so I'm relieved about that.

With today's announcement I wouldn't be surprised if American Psycho is the musical that is coming after Spring Awakening, considering Spring Awakening ends in January and American Psycho comes in February.

As excited as I am to see this, it seems highly unlikely that it could survive the winter, even if it did as well as could be expected. And the idea of moving it (to where is another question) is beyond inconceivable in any event (from the standpoint of adding a million plus to the already unrecoupable capitalization.

I don't know much about this upcoming revival other than using hearing-impaired actors; what makes you so sure it won't be successful?

gypsy,
for the show to be successful within its limited run, it would have to recoup approximately 3-4 times faster than the original tony-winning production. It would have to perform at the same pace as Hamilton or one of the typical limited runs featuring a mega star who basically sells out the show from the get go. I don't think that is likely for a show that is being revived in under 10 years and that had very soft numbers in its out year of the original production (and indeed, before its Tony win) to perform at that level. Is it technically possible it will sell out for 18 weeks at full price? Yes. Is it likely? No.

i think a limited run is best for this revival. Maybe a one or two week extension might happen, but don't bet on it.
