But Fun Home's success at the Tonys was able to make the show commercially viable on the road. The most recent Broadway revival of Spring Awakening on the other hand not only didn't win any Tonys, but also lost a lot of money. The show itself (especially Deaf West's production) is really a tough sell to the general public.
