You took everything I said out of context. I didn't claim the tour would do better than the current revival. I said both tours did better financially than the current revival and the OBC, and that's just a cold hard fact. You don't need to buy anything, it's in the history books and gross archives. Do a little research and read things a couple of times before you start foolishly attacking a fact that everyone else here seems to know. I hope you have a good morning.

Attacking?  Really. So when is inquiring or even disagreeing the  same thing as attacking?   Sheesh.

As I suspected. Deaf West Production of Big River did the same. It was a Roundabout production, which was a limited run, then they announced extension but couldn't sell tix, so they didn't extend. But they went on a national tour plus to Japan for a month! I'm not surprised if SA does the same. So I predict SA will get the Honorable Tony Awards like Big River did.

As for Big River tour, they did not have any name star but they did fine on the road, and then towards the end they did even have TWO productions, one on the tour, the other was at Ford Theatre in DC, where Russell Harvard played Huck. From Big River cast, several new Broadway actors emerged: Christopher Hanke, Michael Arden, Benjamin Schrader, Scott Barnhardt, Kevin Massey, Melissa Van Der Schyff,

"Considering the multiple national tours that went out and some successful long-term sit down runs regionally..."

This isn't entirely accurate - there was only one national tour that eked out 2 seasons (August 2008-May 2010), with many cancellations and generally poor sales. That was followed by one season of a non-Equity tour that performed quite poorly, playing mostly small market one-nighters (October 2010-May 2011). In late 2011, there was a Chicago production that ran for less than a month. Since then there have been scattered low-visibility, short-run regional productions (and quite a few in European markets).

This show brings in young people around their teens, 20s, and 30s in droves- maybe drawing that rare majority younger and diverse audience makes up for the prospect that it might not be a blockbuster show for some theaters? Plus it's just such a beautiful show.. I think presenting it would raise any theater's profile.

I've been puzzling this one out for a while now - I'm not entirely sure what it all means, particularly the phrase "rare majority younger and diverse audience." What's the majority?

But anyway - if the show truly brought them in "in droves" wouldn't that, by definition, make it a "blockbuster?

You know what shows bring teens in "in droves?" Wicked, The Lion King, Aladdin, and anything starring their fav actors from movies or TV, like Daniel Radcliffe, Darren Criss, or Matthew Morrison.

As for audiences in their 20s... I'm not sure any theatre brings them in "in droves;" they just don't have the money to pay for it, and their folks probably aren't treating them to theatre on a regular basis.

And I'm not sure anyone calls 30-somethings "young," except for 50-70-somethings.

Does anyone have any insight on if this show will be touring? I sure hope so. I found it incredibly beautiful and would love to see it again.

At this point, I'll be surprised if the tour ends up happening.
