I was wondering if the tour of Spring Awakening has been cast? Thanks!
No. It will be more than a year before they start rehearsals, so it won't be announced for a long time.

Was the open call a while back used to cast the tour?

The open call was for casting in general.

With 1200 people showing up the new york call alone, along with private auditions, there's no need for more open calls for a loooooooooooooooooooong long time.

It is launching in the fall of 2008, so I am guessing that rehearsals will begin next summer. They usually announce casts shortly before (or after) rehearsals start.
it wouldnt really make sense for them to start rehearsals in the summer and then start the show in the fall....they are going to need a lot more time than that for rehearsals....plus touring season starts at the very beinning of fall
No, they don't, average time for a professional show can be anywhere 3 to 5 weeks. The process isn't that lengthy when they are having 8 hour rehearsal days.

Exactly. If a HUGE show like Wicked can pull it off in a couple weeks, I would imagine SA can too. It's not a college production that takes three months.

Well looks like they're starting the casting process. There are a few casting notices posted on equity's website.

They want Moritz to be a comic actor?
Do you think it'll be worth it for a Non eq person to crash these auditions? On one hand SA is an insanely popular show and a lot of teenagers will turn up for the auditions. But on the otherhand the summer is a slow time for casting calls. In alot of equity calls they see many non eq over the summer...

lilbwaylady, as others have said, a 3-5 week lead in for rehearsals is more than enough for any touring or Broadway show.

Seems weird to start casting this soon. This seems like a preliminary thing to me, I doubt they will be casting it all from these auditions. They have a lot of people from the open calls who made it pretty far callback wise. I'd be surprised if they didn't call more people from the open calls, considering both kids who have been cast since went to the cattle calls.

Another thing my age is just under the limit. I won't get to vote in the election because my birthday is in january, and even though there is no way I'd be able to get an audition, I'm one month off of being 18 by the end of 2008. Hopefully one day I'll get to be in Spring Awakening, I'm glad I look pretty young for my age.
"Seems weird to start casting this soon"
It does seem weird, though this is typically the process for most Broadway shows and/or National tours. Auditions may take place a year or more prior to the actual performances or rehearsals. Then, months of deliberations and call-backs also take place in that period of time. Casting a show is often not as simple as one may think

Yeah, but Alexandra Socha was cast in 3 days and the new Ernst was cast in less than a week. I think they both only had 2 or 3 callbacks.
Yes, but that is DURING a run. I'm talking about PRIOR to the run actually beginning.
I was cast as Moritz. They aren't letting my cut my hair.
