Is standing room really worth it or no?

I assume you are standing at the back of the orchestra. I would not do it, but it depends on how badly you want to see the show and how large of a theater.

That really depends on you. I did standing room 2x for Book of Mormon. Both times the view was great and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Other than my feet (stood in line for a looooong time)

It's a great way to get tickets for hot shows at a cheap price, but you invest your time (for most shows) and it's not easy on the tootsies. If you love the show its worth it, if the doesn't do it for you, you will appreciate SRO less.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I would never do it again. I much rather wait until the ticket sales slow down and comfortably enjoy the experience.

To me, it felt like standing at a museum looking at a painting for 2 hours. It was hell.

It really depends on the show. I did it a few times for Rent and Rock of AGes while it was at the Brooks. Both shows were great.

Also did it for Motown, and that was miserable. I don't blame the SRO for that tho, but it didn't help

After 36 years of teaching, my feet are still capable of standing for a full day, so SRO is no problem for me.

I've done SRO for about two dozen shows. It's cheap and 90% of the time the views are fine. yes it's a pain to be forced to stand for over 2 hours, but it's usually worth. I've stood twice for Book of Mormon, three times for A Chorus Line, and once for Pippin, Once, West Side Story, How to Succeed(with Radcliff), In The Heights, Jersey Boys, Hair, Chicago, Spamalot, Hairspray & Rent(that I can remember).

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I've only done SRO for Book of Mormon, but I plan on trying it for Matilda/Pippin/Kinky Boots soon. From BoM experience, it's totally worth it since the theatre is so small, and you can see the entire stage! The view is great.
My friend has done SRO for Pippin before and the view situation is just like Book of Mormon's. The theatre is so small, so it's a great view, and you can see everything, even the acrobatics that take place higher above.

I've heard the view for Newsies wasn't that great, though. So standing room is worth it depending on the size of the theatre, and what the set is like.
