I was in it back in middle school and it was a ton of fun. It would be very interesting to see a revival.

At New World Stages, yes. When I saw this on Broadway I just kept thinking three things:

"This is a very cute, fun OFF-Broadway show.... WTF is it doing HERE?"
"Will this 'Diva' number ever end? We get it, already!"
"That poor guy in the lizard costume..."

I was in a workshop production directed by Barry Keating himself. There are some fun moments, but I just don't think it would work unless off-Broadway.

Saw it three times.

Liz Larson was spectacular.. Whatever happened to her? Sharon McKnight got all the credit,Barry what's instance got the Tony nom, but where is Lz. She rocked that show.

Liz is frequently on Broadway...and Law & Order as well as much regional theatre. She's also a swell person, loved her in Falsettos as well as Starmites, The Most Happy Fella etc!

The title song was cute, but truly, this was dismal fare.

But since there is so much dismal fare nowadays, today it might fit right in!

A gem of a lyric from the title song:

"To woo you, parlez-vous you."

S'il vous plaît, ne me parlez pas!

I'm with After Eight on this one... One of the most pitiful and amateurish things I ever witnessed on Broadway -- probably only topped by MARLOWE.

IronMan, I also thought about the poor lizard -- but then, HE got a Tony nomination!!! No Tony nom has ever shocked me as much as that one, before or since.

I also agree the one redeeming element of the show, hands-down, was Liz Larsen, not Sharon McNight. Larsen is always terrific. I was glad to see her liberated from STARMITES -- a tiny catastrophe.

With the exception of the 11:00 o'clock number (which I can't recall the name of but it was gospel-ish) there is nothing about this show that is good.

I remember seeing it when I was 7 or 8 and even at that age I was aware how bad it was.

If a s sci-fi musical about a comic book nerd can't interest an 8 year old, something's wrong.

Reach Right Down! I actually like most of the score. this was the show that always had a sort of mythical quality to me. I remember seeing it on the Tonys, but for the life of me, I could not locate anyone for YEARS who had seen it. I bought the script to see what it was about and I've always wondered about the set in act two. I couldn't wrap my brain around the stage directions and description.
