Overheard at the Theatre Jan 9 2026, 10:58:34 AM
Two stereotypical Matinee Ladies following the curtain call of "Thou Shall Not":
"Well, they could have cut half of that."
"Yeah... but which half?"

My review from Nov 1 Nov 4 2025, 10:37:28 AM
Saw this last night. The voices are astounding, especially Nicholas Christopher, but at times it veers into "Look what I can do!" territory. Bryce Pinkham deserves a Tony nom for being the glue holding the show together, but the faster they lose his present-day asides the better... an RFK joke isn't needed here.
How has no one mentioned that Hannah Cruz comes out (or up) in Act II, speaks with a heavy Russian accent, then begins to sing and im

I'm really hoping that Slam Frank will do "Safe Space."

Kowalski Broadway Transfer / Coin Aug 23 2025, 09:12:06 AM
Raising funds for a Broadway transfer with a new crypto coin is a more surprising and intriguing idea than anything in the actual play.

Mandy Patinkin - Back on the Boards? Aug 5 2025, 04:50:57 PM
Ask Toni Collette if Mandy should ever be allowed on a Broadway stage again. Or the audiences (myself included) who were witness to his shocking, bratty behavior.

MAYBE HAPPY ENDING Reviews Jul 31 2025, 05:16:57 PM
I've seen the show several times now, and obviously love it. Until I read about the cast being of all Asian descent, I had no idea that Darrin Criss has a Filipino heritage.
I thought it made a statement about the character of James Choy that because he was obsessed with American jazz culture, of course he would order a HelperBot that looked like those performers.

GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK To Air On CNN 6/7 Jun 8 2025, 09:38:41 AM
The merits of the play aside, I found the direction for cameras to be absolutely stunning. And how is it that even in the extreme close-ups, I could not see one single body mic?? Compared to the recent London productions where most actors looked like they had two hand mics duct taped to their foreheads, this was beautifully done.

KOWALSKI announces Broadway intentions for Fall 2025 Jun 6 2025, 09:12:34 AM
GottaGetAGimmick420 said: "Am I the only one who abhorred it?"
You are not alone. Despite a couple good performances, my eyes still hurt from rolling them so often. Starting with the head-scratching choice of 70s disco as the pre-show music (because of the unnecessary bookending scenes, I assume).

Teacher requesting help: Notable flop/disaster/bizarre PLAYS? Apr 24 2025, 02:36:43 PM
One person mentioned the Farrah Fawcett bomb Bobbi Boland (which closed after a week of previews), and I'd add Hwang's Face Value which is the only other play I know of to close before it opened.
I saw them both. Closing them could be considered a mercy killing.

JUST IN TIME Previews Apr 23 2025, 05:07:49 PM
So. I saw an early preview and have been stewing about this show ever since. I am a HUGE Bobby Darin fan, owning all of his albums (they won't tell you that he recorded 27 studio LPs, 2 live LPs, along with several "Best of"s), and having seen every episode of the several TV series that he hosted (again, you will not know those existed), and this show is Groff Sings Darin with some terribly written book scenes between. He wisely makes no attempt to convey Darin's

PIRATES! THE PENZANCE MUSICAL Previews Apr 21 2025, 04:07:38 PM
pippy1 said: " Is the last number part of the original show or new? It had the audience clapping for an extending amount of time."
The finale's music is from HMS Pinafore ("He Is An Englishman") but the lyrics were newly written for this production. I also saw it yesterday, and had a wonderful time. Kudos to David Hyde Pierce for soldiering on at the top of Act II when (apparently) the use of stage fog trig

Patti has said the same, but that year's most outstanding performance was clearly Joanna Gleason's masterful work in Into The Woods.

Viciously Funny Reviews Feb 11 2025, 01:55:20 PM
Search for any of the scathing reviews of Suzanne Somers' one-woman show, The Blonde in the Thunderbird. Being trapped watching this travesty of supposed theater, I can state that those critics were generous.

Memorable Moments on Stage in 2024? Dec 28 2024, 11:01:20 PM
Robbie Fairchild in Illinoise (at the Armory). It was my first time seeing him dance and from the start I couldn't take my eyes off of him. I saw the show twice more (with different people as "Clark" each time) and no one moved me as much as Robbie.
The fall down the stairs in Death Becomes Her.

GYPSY Previews Dec 17 2024, 11:24:04 PM
I saw it in an early preview, and knowing that Wolfe often comes up with his best ideas at the last minute, I was hoping that he'd pull this off.
But from the comments here, nope. My problem with this production is that for the most part, there IS NO COMEDY in this musical comedy. For example, in the Chinese restaurant scene, after Rose steals nearly everything off the tables, she asks a waitress who has entered to bus the tables for a spoon to stir her tea (sm

How are shows able to do a 9 performance week? Dec 5 2024, 03:34:26 PM
It's not against union rules. The 9th show is paid at double-time, unless the previous/following week has only 7 performances (remembering that the Broadway "week" is Monday-Sunday), in which case it's just paid at the regular rate or an additional 1/8 of salary.
And yes, in most cases everyone in the company DOES do all 9 shows. We don't like it, but it happens.

you can go to the box office and get a $54 ticket "partial view", those are perfectly fine, but my real advice is to skip it, I have seen better drag shows for free at gay bars."
Could you tell us where those gay bars are? I'd be amazed to see free drag shows that are even better than "Oh, Mary".
