Apparantly I'm not posting quick enough for some of you today :P
I so wish I could be in NY for all of these things!!
The 21st Annual Stars in the Alley free concert will be held June 6 in Shubert Alley beginning at 11 AM.
The morning event will feature performances and/or appearances from most every production currently playing on Broadway. Among this year's participating shows are Beauty and the Beast, Chicago, Company, Curtains, The Drowsy Chaperone, Grey Gardens, Hairspray, Jersey Boys, Journey's End, Legally Blonde the Musical, Les Misérables, The Lion King, Mamma Mia!, Monty Python's Spamalot, A Moon for the Misbegotten, The Phantom of the Opera, The Pirate Queen
, Radio Golf, Rent, Spring Awakening, Tarzan, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Wicked and Xanadu.
This year's Star Award, which "recognizes an individual in public or government service who has demonstrated significant support for Broadway," will be presented to The Actors' Fund of America in recognition of the organization's 125th anniversary. Actors' Fund president Brian Stokes Mitchell and executive director Joe Benincasa will accept the award.
Grease reality winners Max Crumm and Laura Osnes will also be on hand to announce the winners of the "Fan Favorite" play and musical. To enter the contest (and a chance to win a "Night on Broadway" prize package), theatre lovers can visit starsinthealley.com and cast a vote for their favorite play and musical.

I'm only teasing popular. :) Really!
Hmmm... I wonder if I could get a sub for 6/6.
Course that would mean no sub for 6/11...after the Overnight walk (see signature for more info)...
Hmmm... Decisions, decisions...

^^ Ok, good! It's a nutty day at school, so the humor that there were 2 posts started about Steph that weren't by you was a welcome amusement.

June 6th is the day of our summer outing and I decided this year instead of the usual Boat Ride around Manhattan to try something different and take my staff to a Matinee show of Wicked since they have not seen it then have dinner afterwards with the group. Since I am closing the office at 12:00 hopefully we will be able to catch some of the Stars in the Alley before our Matinee starts of Wicked. The employee's would get such a kick out of this I really hope its not too crowded and they can see it.
Pray it does not rain!

Hopefully if I get my new job in the city I can sneak away from the office for an hour to see some of this.

If you don't get there early, you'll be way in the back.
It used to be a nice free concert, but now the producers are offering "VIP seating" up front. You pay $230 and get 2 tickets to a show and the VIP seating and a meet-greet with the stars before the event.

Posted: 6/1/07 at 1:41pmwhen you say 'get two tickets for a show', does that mean this concert? or tickets for another show and vip seating for this concert? this will be the first year i'll be attending.

1.) two tickets to a Broadway show
2.) VIP seating for Stars in the Alley
3.) meet and greet prior to Stars in the Alley
It's not a bad deal, but I'm annoyed that this is just another event that's been commercialized.

Thanks!

Posted: 6/6/07 at 3:40amWait, is it really that bad to be "all the way in the back"? I don't really care if I have an awesome view. I just want to attend....

Posted: 6/6/07 at 7:45amOf course I would have off from school TOMORROW, and not today.

You'd be correct, ucjrdude902.
I was surprised that there weren't many people there when I got there around 9. I met up with friends who got there at eight, so I got a slightly better view, but I thought the line would be longer.
And just a word of advice: next year, if you want your friends to stay with you, let them get in line with you. Two girls in front of me brought two of their friends up and I got pushed out of my spot. It was resolved, but I was fought with by an older woman because I was now blocking her view. Not my fault.
