Does anyone else think Stephanie needs to tone down the theatrics? She still sounds/ acts like Liza Minnelli in Wicked, and is almost overly dramatic, as least thats my opinion. I really enjoyed her, and I probably ticked a lot of people off but I was just wondering about everyone else's opinion

I only thought that No Good Deed was a little too much. Other than that I loved her.
I had no problem with her at all. Her voice is amazing and she suits the part perfectly. I hope to see a lot more of her.

At first I did, but it kind of grows on you. Specially when you see her performance

I thought she was perfect. Her performance was dramatic and just amazing. I love Stephanie, her voice is just so powerful... and wow. She still awes me.
When you listen to her sing sometimes, I can see where you're coming from. At first it bothered me, but I just LOVE her and any time she opens her mouth to sing a note, it just blows me away. She's just an amazing performer and it all flows together onstage...Have I mentioned I love her?
i dont think she needs to at all, i think shes perfect in the role acting wise. if you only listen to a recording of her, it may sound over the top, but when you see the whole performance, it fits right in.
I am not gonna lie. As much as i loved her performance, I definitely kept hearing a little Liza creeping into her voice.

Agreed. Some lyrics are speak-sung and it's really jarring.
Ah no you didn't dis my girl!!! Stephanie is AMAZING!! If you read this, Steph, don't change a thing...you're incredible!
Well I'm seeing the show in a week so I'll be able to answer this question as soon as I see it (providing she's in the show that day...*prays*)
I felt that near the beginning of the show, but by the end, I was in love with her Elphaba.
I love her, you might be imagining eliza. Like I thought I saw some libby in Jennas performance.
I think she's absolutely perfect in the role, after all she worked on it for two years with Schwartz...They only had Idina for the opening 'cause they needed a bigger name.
Are we sure that is fact? I always thought it was sort of shrouded in rumor. Enlighten me?
No it's true. I read an interview with Steph in the Toronto Star where she talked about it, and also an interview with Stephen Schwatrz, where he mentioned it.

Thanks for backing me up, Link. Yeah there's a thread around here somewhere that contains the link to that article.

rAwaHLRIA.h That makes me mad.
Stephanie, we love you...:)
Wow...that's so unfortunate. Thank God she's getting her due now! First touring Elphaba! Woot woot! I LOVE YOU STEPH!!!

I don't think Stephanie Block sounds anything like Liza. She has more voice than Liza ever had. I always feel that Liza is on the edge of not making the notes. What Liza has is amazing energy on stage. Incredible energy! and a fabulous performer. but Stephanie Block has an incredible voice. I think she is one of the finest Broadway singers we have today. I love her!

Actually I do agree. SJB needs to open the back of her mouth more to just let the sound go right through without blocking it with her tongue. You can ntice this in some of the pics of her.
