Just got back from CATS at The Muny in St. Louis. Wasn't a great production, a lot of sloppy stuff happening, but Ken Page and Stephanie J. Block SHINED. SJB's "Memory" was phenomenal. Simply the best I've ever heard.
If you're in the area, please see it, even if it is only for that one song!
Tweet from Stephanie yesterday: "Last night was amazing! My wig has been tamed. My ears have been trimmed. I actually look like a cat. No more Grizabella the donkey ghost.:)"
I'm seeing this tomorrow night. Not crazy about the show, but I have a soft spot for it since it's one of the first shows I'd ever seen. And I do love me some SJB. Can't wait to hear her bust out that 11 o'clock number. Glad to hear her costume's been tamed! Poor thing - I know they all must be hot as hell.
The Overture is part of the show, people. Please shut your pie hole.
I'm a professional. Whenever something goes wrong on stage, I know how to handle it so no one ever remembers. I flash my %#$&.
"Jayne just sat there while Gina flailed around the stage like an idiot."
Oh I don't know if we should be feeling sorry for Mr. Page. In the video I linked to below, he doesn't seem to mind :)
Steph's 'donkey ghost' comment made me laugh too. If you go back a few comments before that she gives credit to a 4 year old fan for coining that term... too funny. As for the audio, if she sounds like that in a crappy quality recording I can only imagine how much more amazing she would sound like live!
Got back from seeing this earlier tonight. Although I've had my issues with the MUNY, this was a very enjoyable show. Everyone was in great voice, and of course SJB did not disappoint. And thank goodness her costume is better than the pic posted earlier in the thread! Damn she can blow.

Saw the show last night, everyone gave a phenomenal performance and no one skipped a beat, I go to the MUNY almost every week and this is one of the best shows I have ever seen done there!
I went back tonight to get a picture with her. Yes, I'm "that" girl. Too bad she's not a lesbian. Very gracious as always as the stage door. I can still smell her perfume on me, so I'm happy. Yeah, yeah, I know...

She sounds much better in the more recent video adamgreer.
