It's Liza... with a Z, right, Rath?
That one I'm not sure of...

Thank you SO much! That was driving me crazy!
Oh, I just have to-
"It's M-I-double N
Then E-double L-I
You double up the N
That's 'n', not 'nu'
Then E and double L
End it with an I
That's the way you say
Minnelli!
Liza Minnelli!
It's easy!
It's easy!
It's "Leezy."
No!
LIZAAAAAAAA!!!!!!"
Saw the show 28 times, she was great every time. Also great at Birdland. Looking forward to seeing her in Wicked in Philly in April! I have my tickets!
Sorry Ken, it seems that she's only with the tour until March.
28 times, eh? WOW!! And Birdland as well?
Yeah, her I LOVE TO HEAR THE MUSIC brought the house down when I saw it. People went nuts. It was like the old, sober and drug-free Liza was on the stage...then again the drugged up one is more fun.
I was totally not impressed by SJB as Liza. Given that I am a fairly die-hard Liza fan, so I guess I'm more critical than most...but I just didn't like her.
Wow, Stephanie is the last person I'de ever picture singing "Waiting For Life," but she was GREAT! Lachanze's rendition is perfection and can't be touched by anyone but wow, plesaently suprised with that.
I think it's unfair for people to say she didn't sound like Liza, I don't think that's what she was going for. I never saw her in this show, but I have the OBCR and I'm sure she wasn't trying to sound like Liza, Stephanie was probably trying to get Liza's essence instead of immitating her. Stephanie is a great performer and I'm sure she did a great job on stage, I wonder if the people who actually saw her performing in The Boy From Oz were surprised she didn't get a Tony nod. I didn't know Ruthie Henshall was supposed to play this role, it'd have been interesting to see her as Liza.

She deserved to get a TONY nomination as much as Isabel Keating and Beth Fowler did for her role in THE BOY FROM OZ.

Sorry, but Ruthie was terribly miscast in the role...and not at all good in it. She may be great in other things, but NOT as Liza.

She definately deserved a Tony nod. She was the only supporting actress that year who turned in a diva performance. Even Isabel Keating, who was great, just sang some small ditties -- no big showstoppers like Steph had in the show.
But, never fear, she'll win her Tony soon enough.
I liked her better than Hugh Jackman, to be honest. Hugh didn't inhabit his character, and i didn't believe i was watching Peter Allen.
Stepanie had the look, feel and style of Liza down pat.
