There was an "Ask a Star" feature on Broadway.com where Stephanie said she wouldn't mind playing opposite Sebastian, but who knows?

The question was "Would you consider playing Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway?" and her answer was, "Of course I'd consider it!..."

She loves the role and she is smart to keep her options open by answering that way. I wouldn't read to deeply into her answer - she talked about it cause it was asked, not necessarily because it's something that's actually going to happen in the future. Not that it couldn't... I'm just sayin'... it's a bit early to discuss what day she'll be taking over, don't you think?

Um...maybe I'm missing something, but... Did she mean Sebastian's contract is up in October? Because it's not like there's a law against a) performing while married or b) married couples performing together. That reasoning doesn't really make sense. "Since they're getting married in October it would have to be before then." Um...what? I don't get it.

I think she's really wonderful, and would love to see her in new roles, not returning to Wicked.

On the other hand, I'd love to see her as Liza again! Maybe Block could do a Liza concert as Kritzer did her LuPone concert! That would be fierce. "That's the first time I've said the word, fierce. That's the second!"

If Funny Girl EVER is revived, the two should go all Celebrity Deathmatch.

Maybe she can go in for Julia while Julia is on vacation? Love to see Steph on Broadway as Ephalba.... Tried to see her on tour, went to Philly, but she had already left the tour by then (actually saw Julia there instead - lol)!!!!

Already bought tickets for her Aug 27 appearance at Birdland, by the way.

Sidenote question - does anybody know who came up with the name 'Blockhead'? I really think it is the cutest name! (And to show you how old I am - I am thinking of the Blockheads from the old Gumby claymation cartoons!)

Murney and Kassebaum are leaving the show in October.

The only plausable way Block would join the company in July is if she covered the week Julia is going on vacation (which isn't happening as Lisa Brescia already has the dates scheduled.)

All three leads are contracted till october so IF she did go back to the show it wouldn't be till then. And IF she was to do the show with Sebastian, he would have to extend.

Urban, the 'Blockhead' name was coined by a girl (I'd give her name but I doubt anyone here knows her) in the SJB fandom a couple of years ago when Stephanie was in Wicked.

Would anyone happen to know what week Julia will be on vacation in July?? I am going on the 17th and would love to see her in the role.

I can't remember the exact dates of her vacation, but she'll be back by the 17th so you'll get to see her. She's doing a benefit the night before too.

just to add my 2¢ to this topic.

i choe Block does not join the Broadway company, atleast not until after i see it in September.

I saw her on tour, and ahtouigh vocally she was ok, she played the role in a very "Disney" way (like too "Oh Golly" whenever something bad happened)

I love Julia's voice and am looking forward to seeing her, although if i get Lisa i would still be happy.

Lisa Brescia was never listed on the official website, nor is her headshot/bio in the playbill (though she is listed as standby in the cast listing.) Ditto with Laura Bell Bundy. I'm sure it's just a contract thing.

And Julia is on vacation July 2-8 (no show that Wednesday). Lisa Brescia and Caissie Levy are sharing the performances that week.

Allie Mauzey is the Glinda standby, not the Elphaba standby. My friend saw Lisa in the role and said she was really amazing, though she felt like she was holding back during Defying Gravity.
