So Stephanie was going to (temporally) replace the UK Elphaba then didn't.

I don't see a story. That's like when Halle Berry decided she was going to kill herself but then didn't.

I agree. This is the most random news I've read.

Was it just the people who play elphaba? Sounds like sabotage from some crazed london fangirl who wants to be painted green and belt her tits off in a cherry picker to me...or h1n1.

Don't you love how Americans are quoted using Britishisms by Brit writers? Stephanie Block literally said the producers "rang"? Do phones even ring anymore? Did the other Elphabii wind up in hospital?

Interesting. Similar thing happened earlier this year and Carmen Cusack was brought to Australia to help out the Melbourne production for a month. Due to the lead being out on extended leave and the understudy leaving the company, Carmen was on while the new understudy was learning the track.

I guess when a show makes that much money, they can afford to cast an international actor on a whim.
How to properly use its/it's: Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...

It's because both Alexia Khadime (London's Elphaba) and Ashley Grey (Stand-by) are very ill at the moment, and they need a replacement for the next two weeks, and it just so happened that at the weekend SJB was flying over to London for Scott Alan's concert, so the producers asked her, I believe they have now gone with Shona White who was the stand by back in 2007 when Kerry Ellis went full time!

That's good information! Too bad the press release didn't say all of that.

I got that, although I was wondering if it was Shona or not, I'm surprised they didn't ask Kerry- mainly because I would love to see the fan girls go crazy, but, I'm happy for Shona. But, were any performances canceled? I imagine from reading the article that there was at least one day where there was no one to play the role.
