Interesting. Similar thing happened earlier this year and Carmen Cusack was brought to Australia to help out the Melbourne production for a month. Due to the lead being out on extended leave and the understudy leaving the company, Carmen was on while the new understudy was learning the track.

Posted: 10/12/09 at 4:04amIt's because both Alexia Khadime (London's Elphaba) and Ashley Grey (Stand-by) are very ill at the moment, and they need a replacement for the next two weeks, and it just so happened that at the weekend SJB was flying over to London for Scott Alan's concert, so the producers asked her, I believe they have now gone with Shona White who was the stand by back in 2007 when Kerry Ellis went full time!

But, were any performances canceled? I imagine from reading the article that there was at least one day where there was no one to play the role.
