Anyone have any creative ideas about keeping and storing old PLAYBILLS?
They sell a pretty nice playbill album on playbillstore.com (I think thats the site...if not go to PLAYBILL.COM and click the store link)
Problem with the binders is they take up too much space. I threw mine away years ago. My pre marriage ones are in my storage space & my after marriage ones are in our apartment
Ive always wanted to buy those cool (but expensive) playbill frames (from playbill.com) and fram every playbill from all the DIFFERENT shows. That would be awesome, but if you are a very avid theatre goer, it would get VERY pricy. :-P

I buy clear plastic with ziploc type closure.
www.bagsco.com
then I put them in those plastic storage containers
Sometimes I frame them on the wall or I've gotten extra ones at the theatre, torn them up and made a kind of "tear art" collage (sp?) with them... sounds very Martha, but it's actually very easy.

What size bag do you get for the playbills on bagsco.com?

I've been attending Broadway shows since the 60's, so I have a collection of about 3,000 Playbills. About half of them are in binders and the rest are stored in a bookcase. Please note that the paper used in these publications is NOT acid free and most of my older Playbills have turned yellow with age. Those of you who have younger collections might want to be aware of that and focus on someway of preventing the yellowing.

I'm in the process of putting all of mine in shadow-boxes as well. I learned the hard way about keeping Playbills safe when my Old English Sheepdog decided to rip apart my Nathan-and-Matthew Producers Playbill. Yeah, that was fun. I get smaller ones from my area's local craft stores, though...which run for a lot cheaper than the really nice ones they sell through other places. I have one nice one that's holding my Assassins memoribilia...the rest, which I have stored somewhere, are all crappy...but they work.

Currently, all of my Playbills (official ones and other programs from all show I go to, theater and otherwise) are in a bag I got from Wicked lol. Not very creative or safe, but thats ok for now.
Also, I have all my tickets in a wooden box on my desk. I got a set of pens for graduation, took the pens out (and use them now, didnt just throw them away lol), and put the tix in there. I also save ALL tix...

I have a ridiculously large collection--about 250 or 300 of the things--I recommend using a bookshelf, keeping the really old and/or special ones in plastic (you can use a plastic bag, with the excess folded over and taped down).
Hope that helps!
Wait, I just read that one of the other posters has 3,000 Playbills! Guess my collection isn't that big after all...

I don't have too many, so I just put them in my school binder. Updated On: 10/17/04 at 07:05 PM

Yup, when I last counted, I had over 3,000 Playbills. Just think of all the money I spent on tickets to see those shows--and how I stressed my feet by standing though a good many of those shows!
I have most of mine still (Im missing Beauty & The Beast, The Lion King, Big:The Musical, and Titanic: The Musical)...I have them in a box I got at Target (the BEST store btw)...I also save my tickets which are temorarily in a regular mailing envelope
Thanks for the tip. Just went to Playbill.com and bought several things. I hate keeping my Playbills in a drawer.
When we were in an antique store, my mom bought a really old wooden hairnet display, that must've come out of a beauty shop from the 40s or something. It's a really cool place for Playbills. They all stand up, and each one is about two inches above the last, so you can just see the word "Playbill" on all of them. It looks spiffy.

I have one of the official Playbill frames (for my Nathan signed Producers Playbill). But if you're looking for cheaper frames - I suggest a trip to IKEA. They have these frames which come in packs of 4. They are basically pieces of 7 x 9.5" glass with cardboard backing and then a clip goes on each side. It's not actually closed in, so not the best for archiving, but they look nice when hung on the wall.
I have mine (all 10 of them, sad I know...) hanging on the wall as you go down to the basement, so they're hidden from the sun and everything.

12 playbills fit perfectly into one show poster frame.
