Perhaps YOU aren't aware of how amazing make-up artists are. She could certainly pull off having 2 kids. And her having 2 little doesn't even last for all of act 1. You can certainly make it believable. This is definitely a credible argument and the comparison is certainly not void when both actresses are the same age. Disagree if you want but don't BS credible arguments like you usually do.

And if you aren't Philly, who did were you the last time you were here? Otherwise, it's highly unlikely you would have known about the whole lack of belief on his part with bisexuality....and then had the need to erase that part of your comment.
Right cause every person you don't like MUST be Philly Pinto right? Common sense 101. And to answer your question, I joined the board in 2007 and have returned on and off throughout the years until I decided to delete my old account in 2014 because I had moved out of NY and was not interested in talkin about Broadway since I no longer was close to it. I didn't create my new account until I watched GREASE Live and realized I had missed talking about Broadway.
But No, I'm not Pinto, I'm not headband, I doubt any of you would remember my original account since I didn't post much when I was in it.

My other point was to point out the hypocrisy of people not caring what age Bette is for Dolly yet complaining what age Streisand is for Rose. The only people who have made this an age thing are the people who have committed the hypocrisy.

I that is what you think your argument is, then you have not been making it very well. Let's take a look at your exact quotes.

"A 71 year old dolly singing "Before the parade passes by" makes absolutely no sense. It's just ridiculous."
"Regardless, it doesn't make any sense within the context of the show."
"Neither women make much sense in either roles..."
"Midler and Streisand are both equally not right for the role yet are both equally great for their roles."
That sounds to me like you are blatantly arguing that both women are too old for their respective roles. An argument based on age. I am only looking at what you, yourself, has typed.
What best12bars said about younger vs. older Dollys has me thinking. I hope this revival has a long run and life after Bette moves on. The role is open to so many different types of stars. I'd love to see a long line of distinct and diverse Dollys.
It it will be history repeating itself!! Love it...a string of new 21st century Dolly Levis.

Let me be the one to point out the obvious - Miss Midler is actually going to play Dolly. Miss Streisand is not playing Rose, that's pretty simple to see. I've said from the beginning the whole Streisand/Rose thing is all coming from publicists and is all BS. Was a script really written? Who knows. They SAY one was but then again, WHY would a script need to be written? We've been hearing this trip for what, over four years now? There is no deal, there is no director, there is no cast, there is no nothin'. So, you do the math. Let's say they suddenly have a deal and everything turns real. They would then have to hire everyone, have pre-production and there would be no way it would be shot before 2017. And Miss Streisand would be how old then? Uh huh.

I agree with bk that movies don't need scripts.

Uh huh.
Has anyone actually SEEN Bette Midler lately? Even in close-ups on TV, she looks pretty great and can easily pass for 60 or even late 50s. Maybe Streisand could give her a call and see who does Midler's make-up. (Not that Streisand doesn't look good for her age, but she still looks her age.)
While we're at it, let's correct the OP's assertion that Dolly its "semi-wealthy". Why does he thinks she performs all the odd jobs she does? Why does she sell herself so aggressively in the opening number (either opening number: stage or screen)? None of the odd jobs on her greeting cards is high paying.
Dolly Levi is a formerly wealthy woman who has spent the last umpteen years getting by as best she can. THAT's why she hasn't been to the Harmonia Gardens for so long. It wasn't in her budget.
In fact, that's why she is marrying Horace Vandergelder. Oh, she likes him well enough and knows he is manageable, but there's nothing in the play to suggest theirs is some great passion, especially not on her part. In speaking to her dead husband, Dolly actually says she wants to get married because she is tired. (This is just one reason some people objected to a film Dolly in her late 20s. Speaking of the film and though she sings "Love is Only Love", it's clear she's talking about a kind of love without fireworks.)
