I really hope this show brings in enough interest to go on a national tour. I really want to see this show, but I do not have enough $ to go to NY and see it. So, does anyone think/hope it will happen
Don't hold your breath.
Have any Roundabout shows ended up touring? I can't think of any, except maybe their revival of Cabaret (which, when it would have toured, I was too young to remember).

the twelve angry men production is still touring
The chances of this revival having a touring production is the same as GREY GARDENS.
No one in America knows this show -- only the Broadway aficionados do.
I don't believe the original Broadway production even had a National Tour, which should explain alot about the interest middle America has for this show.

Well, SUNDAY is hardly the kind of show that would ever have the kind of widespread popular appeal to justify a national tour (the original production flopped at the box office and this one is a limited two-and-a-half month engagement at a not-for-profit that for all the acclaim and how terrific it is -- I loved it in London -- is unlikely to sellout in its New York run, let alone anywhere else..... remember it's Sondheim).
Plus even if it did tour, its stars, Daniel Evans and Jenna Russell are probably here under a short term Equity exchange contract with British Equity and probably would not be able to be part of it.
By the way, the dates are January 25 -- April 6th.
While it would be nice to see Daniel and Jenna in the show I really wouldn't care who would playing the title roles, as long as I would get to see it.

Cabaret did tour with a young Norbert Leo Butz playing the Emcee- brilliantly.

Has any more casting for this (the Roundabout production) been announced yet?
By the way, the dates are January 25 -- April 6th.
Is the first preview January 25th? I knew they'd moved it back, but I was still seeing the 19th when trying to find out about it.
It was rumored on here that Jessica Molaskey will be playing Yvonne (yawn).
I wish they had a tour CAROLINE, OR CHANGE style at least. Just a few selected cities.
Either way I certainly will be heading to New York to watch this, probably in February so I can see the Encores! concert of APPLAUSE.
I'm intrigued to know who will be playing Jules and the Old Lady.
I was the person who said Jessica Molaskey would be playing Yvonne, and can confirm that her casting remains to be true.
I figured, somethingwicked, I was just being optimistic by calling it a "rumor." I really was hoping for someone more exciting. The role has Veanne Cox written all over it...
Oddly enough that this was brought up tonight.
From BWW's article about an upcoming performance of Jessica's at Birdland:
"Jessica will return to Broadway later this season for the Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Sunday In The Park With George."

So...does anyone know for sure the date of the first preview in January?

SUNDAY's first preview is slated for January the 25th.
I went to see the dress rehearsal of 'Hairspray' in London last week with Jenna Russell and she is so deliriuosly excited about leaving for NY to do 'Sunday'. While we chatted she did say that there are some biggish changes to the production and that she is only in NY for 3 months and then back to a new project in the West End.

I'm guessing the design will have to be changed for a New York theatre. Maybe that's the "biggish" change?

You said: I don't believe the original Broadway production even had a National Tour, which should explain alot about the interest middle America has for this show.
I say: I remember seeing this show on tour circa 1994/1995. I suppose it wasn't the "first National Tour" off the original Broadway production, but it was a tour nonetheless, that my middle America city saw. And enjoyed.

Are you sure? Why on earth would a show that flopped and closed in 1985 send out a national tour in 1994?
Maybe you're thinking of INTO THE WOODS?
I saw the show on that tour, too. I think it was billed as a “Tenth Anniversary Tour.”

Very odd. Can't imagine it made a dime (and it probably lost several).
lakezurich, i recommend buying the DVD of the original Broadway cast. it's such a great production and the DVD does it justice
I do have the DVD of the show and I love it! I was just hoping that the revival would have the possibility of going on tour, so I could see it live.
