Waitaminute, how much older than y'all am I? 'Cos if I'm going to end up looking like a teacher on a school outing, then I'ma hide on the South Bank until you've all piled into the Novello. XD
I remember Shirley Bassey ( in an amazing fringed frock) sang two of the SB numbers on the Royal Variety years ago - she was stunning.
Lily Savage made her entrance in "Prisoner Cell Block H - The Musical" dressed as Norma Desmond - I always thought she should have swapped roles (imagine Patti in an Aussie prison!)
Yeah - too old Weez. It's like I said to Sparkles when we went to Imagine This: "It's embarrassing having an old giffer like Weez hanging around with kidz like us"!
Finally saw this last night, given london was packed (oxford street closed to cars day, start of half term, holiday weekend etc) it really was shocking just how empty the theatre was, my cheapest of the cheap ticket was upgraded to front row of the circle. Top 2 levels closed, the circle was 2/3 empty, and the stalls had a lot of space.
For me the show was nothing special, I didnt mind the actor musician thing for the most part but nothing grabbed me.
I'm sorry to hear that it's closing. I'll be in London at the end of August and wanted to see the show again, having seen it years ago here in LA, before it came to Broadway, and again in NYC with Glenn Close & Elaine Paige.
