Sunset Boulevard - Closing May 30th

Tickets have now been taken off sale after May 30th. Thats 3 musicals closing on May 30th now - Spring, Sunset and Joseph.

Had tickets booked for September, gutted I can't see it again Sunset Boulevard - Closing May 30th.

well aint that a shame ! maybe we will get a revival of the extrazagant version with susan boyle as norma !

Really liked this show and it's done very well to last this long, especially as it seems it's marketing budget seemed so low... the website and advertising were almost non existent!

Hope it goes to Broadway and gets made slightly bigger with inject of better creativity.

Thanks for the heads up, that makes it an easy (but depressing)
choice of what to pair with spring awakening on the 23rd.

Now feel bad for putting it off for so long.

When I saw it last Monday night, I was in shock how empty the theatre was -- maybe two-thirds empty in the stalls alone! Too bad. This was a really great production in so many ways. And one I enjoyed more than the original West End production which I saw with Betty Buckley.

Sad but not surprising.
Its barely been half full the twice I've been.
I think they tried to bump up interest with the recent announcements of extensions till Sept but it didn't work to well.
Its still on for New York, they just now may get it a little earlier.

Has the closing been announced? I was going to come to London next week to see Spring Awakening once more before it closed and I knew I wanted to see Sunset Boulevard again before closing (thinking I had a bit longer). I don't want to have to choose.

I haven't seen an official announcement but both ticketmaster and ambassadors are only taking bookings till May 30th.

Saw this coming sadly enough. A brilliant show and an equally brilliant production, and I agree with beergoggles, how is it something as tacky and emotionless as Dirty Dancing can continue to run circles around a great little production af a well written show? Soimething's wrong ><

As great as Kathryn Evans is as Norma, I always think the role calls for a huge star, preferably one who hasn't been in the spotlight for a while. I wish that Shirley MacLaine could have played the part - I suppose it's still not too late!

Now confirmed.
Thy are happy with its run at the Comedy, stressing that it ran 2 months longer than was originally planned.

Bernadette Peters! She's so...theatrical when she plays the Witch. I think she'd be great. Also, somebody ought to change this to the name the next Norma thread :P

I guess I'm looking at a two show day next Wednesday (with Spring Awakening) then to see each for the last time.

It did have a good run, just a shame the closure seems so sudden.
