That would be brilliant.

NO!! No, no, no, no, no. I don't think she's right for this at all and would ruin the movie for me.
Unless, you were kidding in which case. That was mean.
I have a feeling that former FOX CEO and now Paramount Studio President and CEO must be the driving force in giving the nod for its film rights to the Billy Wilder classic a chance for a remake in a musicalized version. In the past, ALWebber has hinted that it was Paramount which was not interested to remake the movie. In a sense, the movie will also put the spotlight on the studio that was once Norma Desmond's mother studio. At the moment, Paramount Studios is not doing very well in terms of current filmography, hence the entry of Jim G. The story of Norma is also a strong desire to get back to the spotlight.

Actually I wasn't kidding :) I mean, I really have nothing against her, and when I think of the part, she looks it, she could pass for the naive, enthusiastic writer, she can play clever and deliver jokes and witty and sharp lines, she has the right poise and can deliver the sincerity the part needs in my opinion. Wholesome, yet witty. But most of all I think she can play the interaction with Joe very well, with the balance between the flirting and the serious side and the dramatic scene with Norma too (on the phone) and she has a terrific singing voice, Betty's songs are not easy. I couldn't come up with better names at the moment (except for a few unknowns).
Paramount will likely go back to their Billy Wilder film noir classic, with the ALWebber musical in mind, when they go through the initial creative development phase -- which brings on this question :
Will a re-adapted screenplay be written? The Billy Wilder movie is a classic and Andrew Lloyd Webber and his lyricists based the musical very closely on that film noir. But we now have a Norma Desmond who will be played by a much older actress ( the lyrics referred to Norma as in her 50's, which meant there was an age gap of around 20 years with Joe Gillis). This will be tricky casting, as Joe is supposedly not that much older than "ingénue" Betty. Maybe a rewrite to reflect a much older Norma and a more worldly Betty? Norma and Glenn both have strong personas. Will they find a Joe who can hold his own with Norma?
Will Lloyd-Webber and his lyricists write new songs to accommodate any screenplay changes?
Will they use the sung-through format for this musical?
Maybe Barbra Streisand can make a 'special appearance' as Mama Rose in this movie project? Max opens the door and instead of Joe Gillis - Mama Rose barges in and starts singing "Some People".
At the end, when Close is descending the staircase in the final scene, Mama Rose can push her down the stairs and start belting "Rose's Turn".

On that logic let's have Pamela Anderson as Norma, Spencer Pratt as Joe Gillis and Tommy Lee as Max. "
Any other well known tv names that can sing the hell out of the part of Betty and are the right type and fit the traits witty, naive, serious and wholesome? Shoot.

Thanks!"
Might be too late now, but have you tried the Broadway shop on 44th, across from The Majestic?

That store is called Theatre Circle and is right next door to the St. James Theatre. They are also affiliated to One Shubert Alley. You can call (212) 391-7075 and just ask if they have it. Saves you from wasting your time going to either shop.
You can also email your inquiry to: yrubin@hotmail.com
