I just converted my B. Buckley 4 song CD into mp3 files. I used Musicmatch Jukebox and when the files were downloaded into my MM Jukebox library they were labeled as Gay genre. I guess it was too much to ask to include a Theatre genre. Heck, I would settle for Soundtrack.
I really don't know if to be insulted or just enjoy the sillyness of it.
You know my mom loves the musical Annie, I wonder if she's also into the gay scene?

Yeah, Santa Monica Blvd is much gayer, especially near the Mayfair.

completely appropriate. anyone listening to SUnset Boulevard is gay. I should know. I have Patti, Betty and Elaine Paige doing it.

I really, really hate how all musicals are automatically labelled as "Soundtrack" when I rip them onto my computer. I made my own Musicals/Broadway custom genre in iTunes to take care of it, but still. So. Annoying.
And what really kills me is that there is an existing ID3 tag called "showtunes." Tag number 69, to be exact. So why the heck to they keep using the Soundtrack tag instead?

In the real world outside theatre it is a soundtrack and yes all musicals are gay.
seriously, if you're listening to sunset boulevard you're probably gay...
...I second CostumeMistress's statement. Couldn't have said it better myself.
But you're not really TRULY gay unless you also have the Diahann Carroll version.
I actually own that recording!!

Do you lot remember a few months ago there was talk of a new Sunset movie? It was an interview, or something the ALW did. Anyway, I wondder what's going on with that.
I have nothing against gay people, but just so you know, there ARE straight men out there who are musical theater fans and/or performers. But yes, I know, we're in the minority...
Add one more to the minority. I think we need to start our own club.
STRAIGHTS FOR B-WAY!!!!
Spider, I think the Kinsey scale has been altered to make you a 2 for just considering musical theatre a legitimate music source.
MikeH: Keep checking eBay, I've seen it there several times.
By the way, a true Sunset 'mo of the first order has to own ALL Sunset recordings released, including the Australian promo with Debra Byrne.

Flight, I thought the Australian production was never recorded.
Well, it wasn't. Except for a promo CD of "As if we never said goodbye". Debra Byrne was apparently less than satisfied with her performance on that particular recording, and therefore threatened to leave the show if the producers handed out the CD. Her wish was their command, but some people did eventually get their hands on it (mostly crazed fans, like me!)

Lil' Debbie Byrnes makes me want to shudder. She can sing, but god is she completely unprofessional. I mean it is always good that her understudy will get all this stage time in her own right, but not exactly good for the general public paying to see her perform!
Actually while not Sunset, I have an Australian Cast Recording of "Into the Woods" that was sort of "released" the same way that only crazed fans get a hold of.
Héhé.
Serious
Melbourne or Sydney production?
