Yes, her voice was rather amazing. And def a prime example of not judging a book by its cover.

For once Amanda Holden made a comment worth listening to. The audience (as was watching it on YouTube) were so judgemental and cynical, and were all proved totally wrong.

Susan Boyle for Royal Variety '09 :)

I just love the way that the video opens with her in the background eating sandwiches as if she's in a church meeting!
Bless her little crimplene frock.

re: Susan Boyle

she was so lovely. I was watching it with my friend and we were gobsmacked by her. Such a lovely voice... i hope they do her proud and not use her for publicity only. I mean, i hope they don't put her in a poppins outfit and fly her in or anything. Fingers crossed =)

I think she should be in the Royal Variety Performance if she wins or not!

re: Susan Boyle

On the iTunes store, the recording of Patti from the original cast album is #58 on the top songs list - not too shabby for a song written over 25 years ago.

re: Susan Boyle

Shame its her version tho.

re: Susan Boyle

Totally agree. My personal fav is Ruthie at the 10th Anniversary ... so haunting and touching and completely full of raw emotion.

That promo is a very rare treat - I love Meredith Braun's On My Own.

re: Susan Boyle

Cameroon Mackintosh has now gone on record abd exclaimed he is "gob-smacked", it is one of the best version of 'I dreamed a dream' he has heard.

Susan Boyle must be a producers dream, great voice, virgin, untainted, bit plane, so there is a lot to work on, opposed to some blonde bimbo with big tits.

re: Susan Boyle

Part of me doesn't want them to make her over, stop it from going too manufactured...but at the same time, this is the entertainment industry and it just doesn't work like that, to be honest...you would need to smarten up for ANY job to be taken seriously.

She seems like she hasn't been taken care of, loved properly or made to feel special (her 'never been kissed' story is kind of heartbreaking) which makes me feel they SHOULD pamper her, get her looking and feeling her best whilst living her dream.

I usually HATE shows like this, especially the cringe worthy sob story filled malark, but this is a rare exception.

re: Susan Boyle

She basically has no idea of life in the showbiz lane.
She is from a small village of 120 people and her life is going to church and until 2 years ago caring for mother. Her hobbies were karaoke and church choir meetings. Her mother died 2 years ago aged 91 and Susan took solace in going to church but she gave up the singing as she didn't feel inspired anymore after losing her mother. A friend of hers told her to get her act together and apply to 'Britain's Got Talent'.
She's only 49 and may possibly be able to handle what's on its way.
I hope they respect her past and her little knowledge of show business and she could have a nice little career ahead.
Others have come from lesser backgrounds and made it big so I pray she does the same.

** What theatre was this program filmed at?

I don't know which one it was this year, but a few years ago it was at the Shaftesbury!
