That's not impossible. She would definitely be playing against type. American Psycho is not Sutton's usual kind of musical, but I wouldn't dismiss it.
I think she's smart enough to stay in her wheelhouse, at least vocally. I don't think she'd fit American Psycho at all.
Is Ann Pennington a character in SHUFFLE ALONG? She's on the artwork, after all. I wonder is Sutton could play the showgirl in that?

Is there a role for her in Groundhog Day (which arrives spring 2017)?
I haven't heard anything about casting yet, but Can-Can is Cole Porter and Sutton had great success with AG. Have they finished shooting the second season of Younger yet? I'm sure she still has time commitments to filming that. Does anyone watch that? It's fun and has the always great Debi Mazar and Miriam Shor;.not to mention her boyfriend Nico Tortorella , (insert swooning and moaning noises here).
I'd love to see her do Can-Can! That show his Historical Legs ! Gwen Verdon, Shirley MacLaine, Juliet Prowse...Sutton would be great.
Don't know much about WHOREHOUSE, but could Sutton be leading the previously-announced revival of BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE?
This just hit me, if that interview was in May, then Falsettos was still aiming for this season. So maybe she was alluding to that?
IMO, if Sutton Foster was going to be in Shuffle Along, her NAME would be on the ads and poster already.
I agree, but I was hoping it'd be a surprise casting announcement. "Breaking News: Sutton Foster to join SHUFFLE ALONG" lol.

Color-blind casting?
Foster and Murphy in ONCE UPON A MATTRESS would be heavenly. I agree that Foster needs to play Winifred, and yes, it has been too long since the much-maligned last Broadway revival.
I wouldn't be surprised if she is talking about BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE...though. I can hear her sing the music and think it'd be something different for her. I still wish they could have made a deal with Jane Krakowski, but I'm glad I'll get to see her in SHE LOVES ME.

I would be very surprised if she's in talks to lead Whorehouse. That show is so easily appearing to someone far more famous and far less talented. I just think producers would be smart to take that approach. Not to say the lead should be bad, but it's the kind of easy part that Trisha Yearwood (or similar) should play. You know?

It's Whorehouse. If there were a (even) bigger star attached for a show that would have to start rehearsals 4 months from now, it would've been locked up and announced ages ago. But that flyer has been in Broadway programs all spring saying "more information coming soon". So they're obviously just waiting, whether for theater availability, contract negotiations, or the finalization of the shooting schedule for her TV show.

I feel like it's not Whorehouse though

Except it is.
What do you think it's gonna be, if I'm incorrect?

I want her to replace Jonathan Groff as the King in Hamilton. Kind of kidding... Kind of not :-P

Steve C, Can Can is DOA. Has been since Paper Mill.
Thanks Neon,
; I'll wait and see and watch her tv show. I hope she's back onstage before the show comes back in Jan/Feb..?
"Younger" JUST started filming, by the way. Unless something changed. In the interview she said they started in September. And I would assume they will be done in the middle of October, since it's thirty minutes per episode, and twelve (maybe thirteen?) episodes a season. I'm really hoping it's "Whorehouse". I love a good Sutton revival, and it's in her wheelhouse.

I can't imagine experienced producers missing an opportunity to cast a country star on Broadway. Sutton would be good, but the role is very very very easy. It just seems like a huge waste of her talent, but more importantly, a huge waste of not making tons of money with a star.

Assuming it isn't a horrible flop, it's not like they couldn't bring a country star in after Sutton (or anyone else) opens the show like Reba replacing Bernadette in Annie Get Your Gun.
So rumor is Reba has turned this down many times, right? She is so ridiculously perfect for it. I want her back on Broadway, the way she simgs those Irving songs in the ANNIE GET YOUR GUN 2-track recording like they were written specifically for her makes me think she'd be nothing short of brilliant in WHOREHOUSE (or really, many of the great roles on Broadway).
I would die of happiness if Reba returned. I'm a really big fan, so I say this as a fan, she just released a new album that isn't doing great, and she doesn't have a ton going on these days, so it seems she has some free time. I wish she would act more. I think she is very underrated as an actress.
